Mission Space Orange

I rode it when it first opened and it was the only option. I literally stumbled out of the ride looking for a place to hurl and had to sit on a bench to recover for several minutes.

Ugh. The worst part for me is the spinning creates such a pressure on your neck. I HATE that.

Think of MS as a Gravitron that you sit down on in a rather cramped space. If you follow the instructions and think about your role in the mission you will not have time to think about the spinning. It is intense but really worth it if you are pretty sure you can handle it.

I can't think of a ride I've come across that bothered me as intensely. I don't like every thrill ride I've been on, but I'll try anything and can at least handle them all, even if I don't love their sensations. I did MS: Green and was mostly just intensely annoyed at how uncomfortable it was. I skip it entirely now. Worth doing once, I suppose, to experience it for yourself - but I suggest starting with Green unless you're very well-suited for those things.

I hated it! I love roller coasters and thrill rides but I felt like I was going to pass out. When the ride stopped my head hurt too bad to stand up and my boyfriend had to help me stand up. They had barf bags in front of the seats and I thought they were for decoration but I'm pretty sure they actually get used! When we got outside I had to sit on the bench for a few minutes because I had a horrible headache and it felt like I was out of breath.

OP,

If you can handle the spinning of the teacups, you'll be fine. Give it a try. It's a very unique experience.

My best advice for this ride is: Don't ride it on an empty stomach, but don't ride it right after eating either. Also, don't ride it if you're over-heated. Keep your head back against the head rest, keep your eyes open and look straight ahead at your screen.

I always do the orange side at least once.

I love scary rides but the spinning and g forces of MS just gives me a headache and makes me feel sick, so I don't bother with it anymore

I love the teacups, I can never get them spinning fast enough for my liking. I also love riding gravitron type rides where you stick to the walls.

That being said, MS:O is the only ride that has ever made me feel like I was simultaneously going to vomit and needed to break free from this tiny evil space. I have never gotten sick on a ride before or since. This one, it just does me in.

I tried riding it again this year with my DH because he really wanted to do it. The only way I made it through was by focusing on deeeeeeeep breathing through the whole thing. I totally felt the spinning, and felt when the spinning slowed and went backwards. I felt like my world was swimming.

I think my problem is that I can handle spinning when I know I am. When my body is confused, and can't understand if it is spinning or not, it freaks out and I get sick. Just my 2 cents.

Totally different. Teacups are in an open space outside. Part of what makes people sick on MS is the cramped space. The other part is the trick the spinning plays on your mind since you can't see it. You can't compare the two.

I adore this ride, but I'm the only one in my family that does, so I have to ride solo. I can look left and right, and none of it effects me at all. I agree with others though have a small amount in your stomach rather than being completely empty.

I suspect I am like you - I can't handle freefalls / drops - they really make me feel ill for about 2 hours afterwards - eeerrkkk
but I don't get ill from speed, banking, spinning etc - so BTMR and the Tea Cups are fine for me. Nor do I experience claustrophobia.
So I found Mission:Space really tame. There is a strong sense of being pushed back into the seat and some very mild jerking/bouncing to simulate landing. But i don't notice a thing.
I guess i am one of the lucky ones who doesn't notice spinny things. :)

Have you tried the green side? No spinning, no g-forces. And yes, I've been on both sides and so has my husband. He has this thing where, on the orange side, he'll put up his hands to feel everything (just off the control bar, nothing higher). When we did the green side, he did the same thing and felt nothing so there are no g-forces or spinning. You might want to try that (the green side, not the holding up the hands thing).
