here's my sitch - i have no problem w/any coasters, TOT or the star wars ride. i get mildly queasy at body wars and don't love the teacups/spinning rides in general but will ride them.

how does the motion of mission space compare? i want to try it and know to look straight ahead but i don't want CMs to have to clean up after me

Just got back two weeks ago. We rode everything. The only things I had problems with were the teacups - my kids were spinning it madly - never again and Mission Space. I felt very queasy and grabbed a barf bag on my way out. I sat in the exit area with the games with barf bag in hand while the rest of my family went on again. Luckily, I didn't need the barf bag but felt like I might have. I was a neat experience and I'm glad I did it once but won't be repeating it.

Good Luck!

Scubamouse,

I am the same way. I can do coasters and ToT but not teacups or spinning rides. I did try Mission: SPACE and liked it but it did make me quezy. I'm glad I did it once to try it out but I most likely won't do it again in fear of having a CM clean up after me

I used to love spinning rides, but the older I get the less I can tolerate them. I will do teacups once and do ok on it. Our whole party was fine on Mission:Space. That would be me, my 5yo, my sister, her husband and our 81yo mother. My mother commented to the CM when leaving the first time that it wasn't long enough.

We did take ginger capsules before riding just in case. Don't know if it helped, but I figured it wouldn't hurt. Most of the time we looked straight ahead and followed all the directions. The last time I closed my eyes, looked around, and did everything they tell you not to do and was fine--a little more dizzy, but not sick. I guess I'm ok with that type of spinning.

What does me in easier is the Jimmy Neutron show/ride at Universal. The motion isn't exactly in sinc with the picture and I feel a little sick after that.

My body reacts the same way when I get on anything that spins. I gave Mission Space a try last year and it made my very nauseous. After being goaded by my family, I went on it again this year. Same thing happened. For me, I didn't throw up either time...but felt sick to my stomach for several hours afterward. It is official -- I will never ride it again as there is nothing so special about this attraction that is worth feeling rotten the rest of the day.

Our best friends just got back and All four of them got sick on MS. None are real prone to Motion sickness.

I also felt a little sick after MS, kind of like my stomach had been pushed into my throat  I took me about 3 hours to feel better, on the other hand DW rode it several times in a row with no side effects except a huge smile :)

My husband was very nauseous after getting off of Mission Space, but didn't barf. I was queasy and lightheaded, but kept it together-but nobody else was around us that morning throwing up, either.

Mission Space has the problem of spontaneous barfing-where you're queasy when you get off but you're keeping it together, right up until the guy next to you pukes and then it's all over for you and you can't keep it down.

We did M:S once, barely made it out without yakking, and considered ourselves lucky. Won't be back. And we can do Teacups and everything else all day long without a problem.

If you do do M:S, make it at the end of the day so if you yack it won't put a damper on the rest of your day.

I have no problem with motion sickness and love spinning, but this ride pushed me to the breaking point. I did get nausious (sp?) and I kept thinking if we have to travel back to Earth then I am going to lose it, but fortunatly you only travel to Mars.

Afterwords I was fine, my DH and I got a pretzel and felt great. I would say try it and see what happens. I do not think that I will ever ride it again but I am glad that I did it once, it really is a cool ride.

Oh, I should also mention that my DH feels sick on spinning rides easily. He will not do the teacup rides and won't even do Men in Black at Universal (weenie ;) ). He almost didn't do Mission:Space when we went because he knew he'd be sick. And then all the warnings really scared him. He did end up doing it (also with ginger) and was fine. No problems whatsoever. He was glad that he went and it ended up being his favorite and we did it 2-3 more times during that trip.

My DH DMIL & DFIL all rode this ride 2 years ago and all came off feeling a bit sick. I didn't ride it because I was still nauseous from Body Wars!!

The next year I had an epiphany... I took Bonine for 2 or 3 days leading up to it and again that morning and rode. Everyone was sick but me.

My advise? BONINE BONINE BONINE!!!

I get motion sickness pretty easily but I followed the directions they give you to the letter and I really enjoyed the ride. It is not something I could do more than once back to back but it was fun.

I waited until later in the afternoon incase it did make me ill, I would not have ruined the whole day.

I found the dodging of the meteors a bit rough and I agree if I had to make my way back to earth I would not have made it!

DD can ride and do anything and she got off and had to sit for a few minutes in the resting area at the exit. She said she was super dizzy but not feeligng pukey!

It is a cool experience and something that you should try at least once! :cool1:

It's such a shame for me.

It took so much for me to go on RNR Coaster the first time. After that first time, it was near impossible to get me off I loved it so much.

I just can't bring myself to do M:S. Each time I do Star Tours or Body Wars, I end up feeling if the ride was just 2 minutes longer, I'd yack. With everything I've heard about M:S, it seems inevitable that I will feel sick to some extent after it.

I used to get motion sickness when I was a child but as an adult I have never really had a problem with it. I've ridden MS 3 times and the first time I didn't feel anything and was fine the last two times I felt a little quesy(sp?) I honestly think that it's where you sit in the capsule that makes a difference. The first time I rode I was the first to enter and sat all the way at the end. I didn't really even feel too much of a weightless sensation in that seat. The next two times I rode I sat in one of the middle seats and the sensation was much different. My advice would be not to eat anything a few hours before you ride.

I get mild motion sickness at times, mainly on Body Wars, but this is due to the sight of blood also. Love TOT and RNRC. Even tried Mission Space last year with no problems. Tried it again this year, on the day we were leaving and it made me so nauseous. I did grab a barf bag on the way out and had to sit out of of Soarin' next. Didnt need to use the bag but it pretty much ruined the rest of my day. Thought i wasnt going to be able to handle the plane ride home, but was fine by 8 pm

I think Mission Space is an amazing ride, the feel of the GForce as you are taking off from the landing strip I think is great!! BUT... I dont feel that great when I get off of it either... and I agree with most of you, if we had to make it back to Earth I would not make it either :rotfl2:
The first time I rode, I had just gotten off of the plane, drove to Epcot and got on Mission Space. I get very disoriented feeling on a plane anyways, with all the cabin pressure and stuff, so this was not a smart choice to ride MS right away. I thought the ride was amazing but just WAY TO MUCH for me since I just got off the plane...My brother said I was actually a green color!!! :rotfl2: He had never seen me look like that before. The next day I went on it again. My brother could not believe after how I looked the night before that I would even try it again. Well I did enjoy it much more the second day but I did get off the ride feeling a little quesy, wacked out feeling.
I can not ride Body Wars AT ALL... I did not think I was going to make it off of that ride alive... LOL . I can ride just about anything else at Disney with no problems at all. I am going down in December and can not wait to ride Soarin' for the first time!! :Pinkbounc
About Mission Space, I would try it once just so you can say you did it and see it for yourself. It is actually an amazing ride... the visuals, and the lift off, I think, is great!!
Let us know how it goes... good luck!!! :wizard:

Can someone tell me about these ginger pills? Where can I get them, when do I take them, etc.
I've heard about the bonine and drmamine but I think they tend to make you sleepy, don't they?

Ok here we go, I did use Bonine as did my DD(17) last year. Well I got very sick  had to use the barf bag. In the ladies room that is, also went to first aid to rest for one hour. After that went back to the resort to rest.

Now my DD who also used Bonine was just a little queasy. She went with DH while I rested, and had a great rest of the day.

DH was fine and didn't need to use anything.

I heard Dramamine makes you drowsy but there is now a "less" drowsy formula. I took Bonine because I heard it did not make you as drowsy as Dramamine. I wasnt drowsy at all.

Dont know anything about the ginger pills but I do know that ginger is an ancient rememdy for neausea.

There is also a patch that goes behind your ear but I dont know much about that either. :confused3

I know that if I want to ride any of those spinny rides or motion simulators with my Fam I NEED to take something. Cant be left out! :goodvibes

I cannot do spinning. I will never go back on Star Tours. I've done MS twice. The ride is amazing and I'm very glad I've experienced it. When I got off the ride I felt a little "off". Not really obviously dizzy or sick, just "not right". It only lasted about 15 minutes or so. It actually helped to grab a soda and a bite to eat. I wish I'd remember to take something for motion sickness before going on. I don't think I'd feel bad at all if I did that.

I would definitely give it a try to see for yourself. The take off just blows me away!
