O.K. We got back last night. I have rode this ride 5 times now and I believe they have actually slowed it down. Even the couple we always travel with said the same thing. What do you think? One of the CM told me they have not.

No, the "orange" side is the same as it ever was. The "green" side is the tame side.

The orange or intense side is the same as it was when the ride soft opened in June of 2003. That is according to Disney and my own opinion. I don't believe the ride is toned down at all from when I rode it during the previews.

They now offer the green or less intense version in addition to the original. The green version turns off the centrifuge (the spinning) and basically turns the ride into a next generation Star Tours similator. The cabins still move back and forth and front and back to create sensations of movement, but without the spinning decreases the risk of motion sickness in those who can't ride the original, more intense version.

Which version did you ride?

We rode the orange side. I thought it was just me until our friends mentioned it to us. I was worried about getting sick (after breakfast) but it didnt even make me feel qweazy at all, like before.

I'm not sure then. It still feels like it has the same intensity to me. Again, for what its worth, Disney insists they haven't changed the more intense version.

I do not know for sure;but, It feels that way to us. I still enjoy the ride anyway.

Funny you think it's slowed down. My partner said the opposite "it's going faster!" I didn't want to ruin his excitement by telling him it was still the same! ;)

We rode the orange side - i don't remember there being a green side on our last trip in 04, but I think I would prefer the green side as this wasn't my favpurite ride of all time! Is there a height restriction for the green side for kids??

I skipped this ride last time and am planning on doing the green side this trip.

How much smaller is the ride vehicle than Star Tours?

The ride vehicle is A LOT smaller then star tours. The seats themselves though seem to be a bit wider.

MS consists of 10 separate ride vehicles attached via a large arm to a large centrifuge. Each ride vehicle/capsule holds only 4 guests. (There are 4 of these large centrifuges inside the building) It is straight row of 4 seats in each capsule. After you sit down, you pull down an overhead harness (like seen on many coasters). Once situated the front half of the capsule moves forward so each guest is looking "out" their own window. It makes for a very intimate setting unlike Star Tours where 50+ (?) people are in one big ride vehicle watching a large screen.

One of the warnings, even on the green side, is if you have a fear of "enclosed, dark spaces" that you should not ride. There is room to move once everything is in place, but I imagine one could feel very tight if you are prone to claustrophobia.

Here are two inside photos of the capsule I found courtesy of allearsnet.com if you are interested:

http://www.allearsnet.com/tp/ep/e_ms33.jpg: Shows three of the four seats in each capsule

http://www.allearsnet.com/tp/ep/e_ms32.jpg: Shows the console that moves toward the seats once you are seated with the harness on. The harness is only necessary when the pod tilits very far forward. It does not go upside down (in either green or orange version)

Does anyone know if the heighth requirements stayed at 48" for the green team, or if it was lowered?

TIA

My family also thinks they have toned down the orange side since it was first opened. I've never ridden that side so can't comment but my mother and husband say its much tamer than it was.

I rode the green side for the first time last week and loved it. It's much tamer than Star Tours!!!!!
