Calling all Mission Space chickens. THAT'S ME!

We're going in about 6 weeks and I have decided that I just can't try Mission Space. I hate the idea of getting sick. Body Wars made me very sick one time. We also went to an opening of RNR for AP holders and we rode it 3 or 4 times in a row, then rode TOT. I was sick for 2 hours. Had to lay down it was so bad. Just the idea of the spinning makes me queazy.

So I won't feel so bad about being too chicken to try it, I'd like to know if there are any other chickens out there who aren't going to try Mission Space? Fess up! My husband is afraid too, but because of feeling closed in, not the motion sickness aspect.

We're just getting pathetic in our old age.

I have to admit, I'm afraid, too! I think I'm going to try it though. Sure, I may regret it, but I know I'll kick myself if I don't at least try it. I know I get motion sick easier now that I'm fast-approaching 40 than I did even a few years ago. I've always loved thrill rides, especially coasters. Anyway, I'm very nervous about this ride, but I'm going to try it. I just won't eat before hand, that's for sure!

I have always wanted to be an astronaut, but I have a bad problem with motion sickness, so I doubt if I ever could be one. I would love to do Mission:Space, but I know that I would throw up. So I won't do it. My husband loves it. I will have to be satisfied with do the aftershow instead of the ride. If they ever come up with a way to eliminate motion sickness (and Seabands don't work on rides for me, nor does Bonine or the patch), I will be the first to get it.

i will not be on that ride. will not ride RNRC or TOT either. nor body wars or space mountain. my husband is still deciding about mission: space. :duck:

Well, I'm a serious chicken, would never do TOT, RnR Coaster, not even Splash Mountain or Thunder Mountain, hated Space Mountain and Star Tours....but I just HAVE to push myself to do Mission Space or I'll regret it for years, sick or not. I'm sure taking the Bonine, though !!!!

I just got back I too was a little nervous.. I do not like body wars either because it jerks you around...
I did ride Mission Space it is really intense.. I did not get sick, (do not eat a couple of hours before you go you want you stomache empty),,, the G force was incredible.... they have air blowing directly in your face to help you from getting sick... but if you are a quiezzy person do not ride...

We were just there and did not do it. My wife was going to attempt it but when you start reading the sign and how it talks about drinking plenty of water and not eating etc. coupled with a long wait (we just got FP for Test track and couldn't get more for several more hours) she said screw it. We did do RNR together which we both had avoided in the past and we both thought it was great. My DW and DS went on Test Track with me this time and they liked that too.

Just got back from 4 days and was able to ride MS 4 times. Loved the ride but was expecting it to be even more intense from all I heard.

I love all sorts of roller coasters, loops, rolls, you name it - no problem
I like the Body Wars / Star Tours but do get a bit motion sick from time to time because of the visuals

No problem whatsoever with MS. A slight disorientation for a second or two here and there but look straight ahead and you're fine!

My husband is afraid too, but because of feeling closed in, not the motion sickness aspect.

This is my fear. It's not the spinning that worries me, but the possibility of feeling trapped and then panicking. But I haven't heard too many people talk about this aspect. Maybe it's not that bad?

When Mrs. U went on Mission Space (by herself) in Sept. Uncleromulus sat outside with about 4-5 other "chickens" while we all waited. Since we were right near the exit, it was interesting to see the people and overhear some of the comments. Ranged from "WoW What a Ride" to 'That's it-I'm never going on that again". Nobody actually looked like they were sick, but several appeared a bit wobbly. Interestingly, that day there was NO wait to get in Mission Space. We were outside about 1/2 hour and absolutely nobody took advantage of that "no wait" and went BACK on Mission Space. Appears that once was enough, even for those that liked it.
Should add that Mrs. U enjoyed the ride, but wanted no part of a second trip. She also validated my "chicken" status, saying that I would have been certain to have been miserable had I actually gotten on.

I'd like to go through most of the attraction, without doing the ride itself. Is there a chicken exit?

Nope, I have no desire to try it. Mickey's Barnstormer made me feel queasy, so I definitely couldn't handle Mission Space! And unlike some, I don't want to even go near it. Now, TOT-that's a different story-I'd like to do the preshow, then look for the chicken exit.

Hey there, Don't worry about not wanting to go on Mission Space....I don't like getting sick either! I seriously came close to losing it on RRC and FORGET body wars! we will be there the same time as you and I am still debating....I think I will have to make an on the spot decision after I send my husband and my 10 year old son in!(HAHA!) I just want to have fun without a tummy ache. Hope to see you there and HAVE LOTS OF FUN! Helen:crazy:

I want to try this eventually, but not my next trip. We'll be there with a large group of family at Christmastime and I am not risking being sick all day. If it was something I knew I could recover from quickly, I would do it. But when I was 12 I rode the Gravitron at the county fair and my head didn't stop spinning for 3 days. Yes, 3 days! Any type of spinning makes me sick. I can't even play ring around the rosie with my DD. So, I will ride, but I will wait until we get our passes and it's just the 4 of us so that if I get sick we can just leave and go home. Although it probably wouldn't be a pretty trip back home. ;)

DW and I rode Mission Space a few weeks ago - you do not feel as if you are spinning at all. The only people that feel the spin and get sick are those that 1) close their eyes and/or 2) move their heads from the headrest. If you don't do either, you'll be fine - it feels as if you are being pushed from behind.

The thing that scrares me the most about M:S is hearing people say that they "didn't feel right" for an hour, 2, 3 or even the rest of the day. Even with Bonine, I'm motion sensitive. And if I get sick, my day is ruined. I don't want to take that chance.

Me either. There is no way I want to purposely ruin a day at WDW. I have done SM and Star Tours and RnR with minimal affects. Although, my family has done Star Tours more times than I have. I really want to experience this ride, but I don't want to be sorry afterwards. I'm afraid to take that chance.:scared: :worried:

Put me right into the chicken coop with all the rest of the chickens. NO WAY and I getting on this ride. I would really like to see if their is a chicken exit since I hear there is many nice things to see before and after the ride. I also don't do SM, RNC, SM ect. ect. you get the idea:earseek:

I'm too chicken to ride it! :scared:

Dh says he's definitely gonna do it, and ds is *pretty* sure he's gonna go with, but I just have this thing about not wanting to hurl on anyone ....

I will ride most things at WDW (tho' I've never attempted Body Wars) but from the reviews I've read, I'm going to be better off shopping in MouseGear while the boys do their thing! ;)

For those of you who do get motion sick and have done the ride....I can ride RNR and ToT once. I feel a little nauseous, but ok after a little while. I don't do the tea cups or any of the simulator rides like body Wars. I know I would get too nauseous on those. What are my chances of coming out of Mission Space without being sick for hours? I'm only at the parks for 3 days & hate to waste 1 feeling sick. On the other hand, I hate to go all the way to Disney & not ride it.
