Mission Space and motion sickness? Yes or No

My daughter and I are heading back to Disney next month. Mission Space is the ONLY ride we have never done. We both get car sick easily and years ago when it opened my husband, cousin and her hubby rode it. They got off and my cousin's husband was so sick he was green in the face and had to go back to the resort an lay down for the rest of the day.

I really don't want to waste a day feeling like poop because of this ride but at the same time I feel like we are missing an experience that we have never done. What are your thoughts? I know there is a less intense side now but how less intense is it really?

I get motion sick on things like the Tea Cups, RnRC and Star Tours. I tried the less intense version of Mission: Space and didn't get motion sick, but it is a bit claustrophobic because the ride vehicles are very narrow. That being said, the less intense version was also kind of boring. You basically watch a screen with some shaking of the ride vehicle. I haven't ridden it since because the less intense version really didn't seem worth the wait time. I haven't tried the regular version because I don't want to miss a day in the parks for it, but if I was going to ride it, I would probably save it for the last thing I was going to do that day so that if I did get motion sick, I could go back to the hotel and go to bed.

We love this ride, but we don't get motion sickness easily. If you get sick easily you probably want to avoid this ride. There are two versions. The green version is a lot less intense. I would try it out first, then decide if you want to kick it up a few notches. The "Orange version" will hit you with some G-Forces that may be too much for you.

I suffer from motion sickness - car, boat, plane, etc...

Been on both versions. The more intense one makes me actually reach for the 'sick bag', but the calmer one still makes me nauseous. You may want to skip it. I personally don't think it is all that interesting - I like Star Tours better.

The "Less intense" side doesn't spin. It's just a simulator, you rock back and forth along with the action. If you can handle Star Tours, I think you'd be fine on the less intense (green) team.

Now, it is cramped in there, I wouldn't suggest it if you're at all claustrophobic.

I did the less intense and thought it was no big deal so I went on the "more" intense one. HOLY COW. NEVER AGAIN. If you get dizzy or motion sick definitely stay away from it. You should be fine on the less intense version as long as you don't get claustrophobic.

I cannot ride the teacups.. in fact, I can't watch my husband and kids ride it. I can't go on any roller coaster that goes backwards or upside down.

But I LOVE Mission Space GREEN.

It's very similar to Star Tours.

The science: women are more likely to develop motion sickness than men (this does not mean men do not develop motion sickness). Severe motion sickness while standing still is called vertigo, motion sickness mainly occurs when the senses are not integrated (meaning what you see, feel and sense with your body are not connecting in the brain). Some of us respond by becoming sweaty, nauseated, anxious and all those other feelings. Any ride that increases the G forces on the body with a centrifuge is like to ruin the day for those with motion sickness! Take care and enjoy every moment of your trip!

This is one ride I will not go on again! I did the orange side and before the ride was over I was fixing to puke! I love roller coasters and most rides in general, but never this ride again. And yes it is in very confined space which does not help.

I wanted to be an astronaut growing up , like roller coasters, etc and this ride made me ILL- the less intense version at that. I didn't think I was claustrophobic until I was on it- it was horrible. No desire to do it again!

Wow great info. We tend to get motion sickness as well but were going to do the tamer version next trip, but my wife is very claustrophobic so scratch that. Thanks all!

I get motion sickness on this ride as well as a few others. If I start to feel bad, I just shut my eyes and try and think about something else. If you aren't seeing what is happening, the motions you feel do not make you sick as much....at least this works for me. I have never ridden Forbidden Journey over at Universal without shutting my eyes at some point during the ride. I try every time, but generally don't last very long before my eyes slam shut...this is just one example.

I also do not find Mission Space all that interesting. I do not experience any ill effects from the G-forces. The seats are extremely tight and that does bother me a bit.

I will ride anything. Any ride, roller coaster, whatever. I enjoy pretty much all of them. I don't get car sick, sea sick, or motion sickness.

This is the only thing I've ever been on that I actually felt a risk of getting sick on. I purposely skip this ride. I read that it has been toned down, but I rode it on orange and, damn. My father also rode it around noon and declared that he was "done for the day." If you get motion sickness, I'd stay away.

Never in my life will I do this one again. This was the 1st ride of the day and I was teasing my 12 year old because she was scared. After we were done I was sick for almost 5 hours my daughter was fine.I never considered myself a motion sick type of person.Considering they give you several warnings before you get on the more intense i should have left it for last.

My husband suffers from severe vertigo and he'll only rode the mild version. It makes it act up slightly but nothing he can't manage. He also doesn't go on the teacups, rock n roller coaster, and tower of terror. Everything else he can handle with proper preparations.

Went once with my brother on the green one but it made us feel claustrophobic and we thought it still was a bit rough
