Everything that happens in the "FULL" version happens in the "less intense" version.
The DIFFERENCE is that in the less intense version, they simply do not spin the vehicles around with the centrifuge motor.

The individual vehicles "rock" so there is some "feeling"... but not the increased "G-forces" that the "FULL" version has.

Its the G-forces that created the "intesity and realism" that M:S was famous (infamous) for.

My DW who (in many previous trips)chose not to ride the FULL version of M:S more than once per trip (if at all, in a trip) just rode the new "lite" version and said that it seems less problematic for motion-sickness than even Star Tours.
But if you're uncomfortable in tightly-enclosed spaces and/or you are VERY prone to motion sickness, you should still be a bit wary.

I just did the "less intense" version last Thursday (June 1) and I loved it! I had never done the "intense" one because I believe it would make me sick, so I never experienced the ride before at all. Like the previous poster said, if you don't like tight spaces, this might not be a good ride for you. DH did the intense version in the past, but really hates feeling enclosed, so didn't do it this time because of that. Also, like the previous poster also said, it does move around because it's a simulator. I didn't find it quite as jerky as rides like Star Tours (or Body Wars), probably because it's newer and has a more recent design. I would recommend that you try it once and see if you like it, provided you're OK with the tight space and movement. I'm really looking forward to riding it again myself. Have a great time!

I also rode the "chicken side". I thought it was great. I have never done the other side but really enjoyed the ride. Like the others If you don't like tight spaces don't go. When we were being closed in the lady on the ride with me said she sometimes got sick on rides. Glad the barf bags are still there!

My thirteen year old and I were next for the regular one, then the lights went out and everything stopped. My DD turned and quietly said, "mom, I don't want to go on this side." We went the chicken side and were quite pleased. Very easy (I would compare to Star Tours) and young kids could get a kick out of pretending to drive the rocket.

I've never been on the full version of M:S. I went on the green one twice this week, and I liked it. My sis, cousin and I had a lot of fun with it.
I was happy to hear that they had the less intense one, because I wouldn't have been able to go on the regular one, between my motion sickness and heart thing I don't think that would have gone well.
I would compare the green version to somthing like star tours. It seems more interactive, but my sis and I were disapointed to find out that no matter what you do you can't crash the spaceship ;)

I have only been on the original version, and enjoyed the ride, no problem with motion sickness, so I don't have a problem with that, I will try the newer version so I can compare. I'm trying to have the DW try the new version but she still will not give it chance, small and dark places; not a chance she said. So I'll be doing the new version alone also....

Does having the two versions change the wait for the ride? What about fast pass? Is there a fast pass for the full version and one for the less intense?

:thanks:

I didnt know they had 2 different ones. When did they start this or has it always been and I've just not noticed? My DH gets a little sick on it but he might like an easier one better. How does it work? Are they together? I know this sounds silly but this is all new to me

My brother and I rode the less intense version last week to compare to the more intense which we both had ridden in past. I typically have no problems with motion sickness, so the only difference I noticed was there was no pressure from the restraints from the g-forces, and it didn't make my face feel like it was flopping around from the speed. It was a very satisfactory experience.

Does anyone know about fast passes and wait times for the alternate version of Mission Space?

But that's the best part!

When our Seasonal pass blackouts open up again, We'll go back to epcot and try both. I think my DBf secretly feels a little funny after M:S. I'm always ready to go on stuff over and over...and I don't get that disoriented, but he's always saying ... nooo more plz. LoL

Maybe we can just ride separate rides now, not as fun but I looove the REAL version.

I enjoyed Star Tours and I have some motion sickness.
Are you able to just look away if you get a sense of motion sickness?
I guess I could just close my eyes too! Is it just a little screen in front of you (all individual screens)?

Thanks!

I wouldn't let my son ride this ride when we went in May, since two people have died on it, but if I had known about the lite version, he could have went! Maybe I will even join him next year.

We were there the last week of May/first week of June. The fast pass you get is good for either side. We were going to get a fast pass but saw that there was no wait at all for the green side. There was a line for the more intense version but I didn't notice the wait time.

I have riden both sides and didn't care for the original version. The new side is so much fun. My youngest DD had fun playing with all the different buttons and switches. My oldest DD thought the new version would be "dumb" but she had a lot of fun. :thumbsup2

Yes, you can look away if you start feeling sick. You have a small screen in front of you so each person has their own individual screens. I think if you can ride Star Tours you should have no problem with this new version of Mission Space.

I was there the day they started up the "Green Team - Less Intense" and "Orange Team - More Intense" campaign. I thought about trying the "less intense" version just to see what it was like, but then I'd be cheating myself out of a ride on the original version. I love the original ride and don't really care to ever go on the other version. My favorite part is when you set down on Mars and all the G's are pressing down! Super Fun Ride!!
