MISSION:Implausible

I posted this in Theme Park Blah Blah.. thought I'd put it here for posterity, since this whole PTR is going in my scrapbook. FUDAHs are FUN!! :rotfl2:

This is for all us newbies... people like myself who have never been to WDW, but are planning their first trip. Those of us who lurk, reading for hours, wistfully imagining what it's REALLY going to be like.

Mainly, those of us who WISH they could contribute answers on the DISboards, but can't (yet).

I suppose I am feeling a little guilty, like I always ask questions, never answering any. I guess I'm not stupid, exactly, just ignorant of the ins and outs of a WDW vacation.

So, bear with us, dear DISer's. Bear with those of us who have no answers, only questions. Hopefully we will soon join the ranks of the answer-ers!

For now, I christen myself a FUDAH. Future Disney Answer Haver.

RAISE YOUR HAND IF YOU'RE A FUDAH!!!

Mickie, I love how you come up with these fun sayings and stories.

You are too much

:rotfl2: :rotfl2: :rotfl2: :rotfl2:

OK. So I took a month off. Dang DBOD (Disney Brain Obsessive Disorder) got the best of me, and I went into overload.

One day, I came home after picking up the boys and couldn't find my ADR #s. I promptly lost my ever-lovin mind.

Running from one end of the house to the other, yelling, "THE NUMBERS ARE GONE!! THE NUMBERS ARE GONE!!" while DH and the kids stared at me in what could have been either horror or fascination (or maybe both).

I was having visions of my dream vacation being overlarded, uh, I mean overloaded with soggy CS burgers and cold french fries. Like the Disney gods erased my ADR confirmation numbers from the WDW-DINE computers. Fitting retribution for me daring to lose my little piece if notebook paper where I had lovingly transcribed them.

I swear, I think I had a panic attack. When I caught myself pulling my own hair, tearing through my room in a frantic search for that piece of paper, I had an epiphany:

I WAS BECOMING A FULL BLOWN LUNATIC.

I looked around my bedroom and realized the paper would be easy to find.

IF every available flat surface had not been covered with guide books, notes, crumpled, half finished itineraries, and, yes, my ever-present highlighters. I would have found it in a snap if I had put it in my notebook JUST for Disney planning. :sad2:

So, I took a deep breath, got a box from my closet, and put it all away. Every book, paper and highlighter got thrown in that box in a desperate bid for sanity. (and of course I found my ADR list). I even put away my little Maleficent figurine from the dollar store that stays on my computer monitor. I taped the box shut, labeled it "Do Not Open until Jan 1st" , and gave it to my mom to put in her closet. This was at the end of November. Well, i must confess I kept my ADR list out. Gotta have SOMETHING. :upsidedow

I have been a good girl. I have Christmased and cleaned up from it. I have cooked and cleaned and scrubbed my dirty children as needed. I even managed to finished that blasted novel set in Scotland. All the while mentally tapping my foot, waiting for Jan. 1st. At the same time, part of me was GLAD I packed it all up for awhile. I KNOW my family was! :lmao:

The only concession I made was the occasional trip to the DISboards, usually to this PTR. Oh, and the other thing I did was to reschedule my ADRs. I had decided to do it BEFORE what DH refers to as "the meltdown", and was afraid to put it off until after D-Day (Disney Day).

So. Here it is, January 1st. :cool1: I am refreshed from my Disney meltdown, and actually am excited to be planning again. And hey, it's after midnight, so now we officially have

ONLY 30 MORE DAYS!!

OMG OMG.. I FEEL ANOTHER MELTDOWN COMING ON!! I am so excited, I have to go pee!!!

You are so funny. That you had to give it your mom, as you probably knew you would have been in your box looking at all of your Disney stuff.

:rotfl2: :rotfl2: :rotfl2: :rotfl2:

yeah for 30 days!!!!

What did you change about your adrs?

You are so funny. That you had to give it your mom, as you probably knew you would have been in your box looking at all of your Disney stuff.

Ah.. you have the DBOD as well... to know that I would not have resisted temptation were the box of Disney lovin' in my own closet... DH surely would have discovered my in there with a laptop and a flashlight at 2 AM. :worship:

As for my changes.... I'm about to start that post. You're a lil too quick for me, Trentmom! :lmao:

Yes, I too have DBOD and could see myself in the closet with my laptop as well..

I will try and slow down.......I should be in bed, but got a 2nd wind and need something to do:rotfl2:

Well, I better have this right, b/c I ain't changing it again! For the record, this is the 3rd time I have called and rescheduled my ADRs :lmao:

There is a shuttle launch scheduled at the Kennedy Space Center for Feb 14th. We are hoping to make that, but seeing as how many times the Dec 6 launch has been scrubbed, we are just going to plan on a regular day at the Kennedy Space Center. Probably have more fun, anyway!

I hope you like my new itinEARary! Knowing us, we will arrive the first day, and decide to fly by the seat of our pants!!!

Hope everyone had a Happy New Year. Mickey, it is good to see you are back. Maybe your DH can find something in Orlando (hint hint).:scratchin I see you are inside of 30 days too. I am about 3 weeks out:cool1: I hope it is not as cold as it is rite now:cold:

Great itinerary. You can count on the the shuttle take off being delayed.
Boxing up the Disney stuff for a month--good going :thumbsup2 it gave your brain time to refresh :flower3:
:grouphug: for your DH job search.

Your itenary looks great!!!

That is so cool you are going to Nick Hotel after you leave Disney. I can't wait to hear all about that. I would love to take DS there...looks like fun:goodvibes

You have a lot of great ADRS!!!

Does the rest of your family know about the diver or just you? That is going to be so cool:thumbsup2

Well... I tried to keep the diver a surprise from the boys and DH, but seeing as he has nothing better to do, he found my confirmation email from Reginald at the Coral Reef. :sad2: At least it will be a great surprise for the boys on our first night there!!!

I got kinda nervous when I heard they had cut them down to 4 divers at dinner, so I called right away. Then, when I talked to Reginald via email, he said he was away from the office until Tuesday (this was a Friday), and would not be able to check availability until then. I spent that whole weekend biting my fingernails off, picturing all the undeserving diners reserving MY diver spot that weekend! :lmao:

But, in the end he came through. Good thing for him, too, since I was prepared to jump in the tank myself with a stupid sign if need be!! :rotfl2:

Well, he's not really an idiot, but boy, am I MAD!

He is 21 years old, and lives near Atlanta. We haven't kept in touch very much since my father died a few years ago. ANYWHO. He was getting married on May 1st. When we went down for my gfather's funeral  , I showed his doubtful fiance' my cake portfolio.

Before she saw it, she was apparently thinking that I made Betty Crocker homemade cakes. Well, I DO use Betty Crocker mix, but I am not a Betty Crocker decorator. I am a professional. :snooty:

So, needless to say, once she saw my cake book, she was all a-twitter. Apparently the prospect of getting a $750 wedding cake as a gift was exciting. SO. Fast forward a couple of months, and my fairy grandmother calls to tell me that they have changed their wedding date to Feb. 9th. :scared1:

Now, we all know where I am gonna be on Feb. 9th, which is somewhere between Space Mountain and Expedition Everest! Certainly NOT in Atlanta, pouting b/c we had to cut our vacation short. :rotfl2:

As much as I love my lil brother, I am SO not cancelling the 2nd week of my magical adventure! Now, one would think that if you were to bump the date of your wedding up by 2 months, one of the first calls you made would be to the cake decorator. But NOOOOOOO.

My grandmother asked me NOT to tell them that she paid for us to go to Disney. :scared: The reason for this is that my brother and stepmother never really did anything to help her, even though they live in the same area. As a result, she always refuses to give Michael $$$ when he comes knocking. And I understand that. She doesn't want them to be angry that she forked out over $7,000 for a vacation for us, but refused to give them any money to help with the wedding. I get it. But what kind of crazy position did that put ME in, to tell my brother I can't come to his wedding, but not WHY?!?!

Well, to make a long story, well, not quite as long, I called him today and broke the bad news. I told him that we are going to WDW, but I fibbed and said DH Mom bankrolled the trip. The boy could not have cared less. :sad2: I felt SOOOO guilty not cutting the vacation short to attend his wedding. I agonized for WEEKS, wondering if I was doing the right thing. And he just blows it off, like, ok, whatever. I guess I should be thankful he didn't freak out (now, his fiance' may have a different view :rotfl: ).

And you know the kicker is, that it is only 5 weeks from the wedding, and that ding dong STILL had not called me to let me know they changed the date.

<sigh>
Brothers. :sad2:

Surprising the boys will be awesome....:cool1:

You crack me up...I can so see you actually asking if you could jump in there and hold a sign, pretty Please....:lmao:

That was a great pre-trippie report, mickiecake! I hope that you and your family have a wonderful first trip to WDW! :wizard: Please do a trip report when you come back. Judging from your pre-trip report, I'm sure it'll be a lot of fun to read! :)

P.S. Those cakes look awesome!! :thumbsup2

Oh man, sounds like your brother fiance is not all there:rotfl2:

If it had been a sister and you were missing their wedding, I am sure they would have been heartbroken..

I guess it is just a guy thing....sorry men out there:lmao:

Okay back to disney, before we get in trouble for going OT:thumbsup2

what's next?

Just started reading your pre-trip report, I found it through your "raise your hand if your stupid" post. FUDAH's unite. I am really excited for you and your family. I hope you have a good trip.

Thanks for the great feedback, everybody!!! I will def. be writing a trip report when I come back.. maybe Mission:Implausible II??

As for what's next, probably more wailing and gnashing of teeth over my inability to buy anything I need yet!! :rotfl2: I HAVE been meaning to write up a new quiz.. a follow up to the WDW Entrance Exam.... :scratchin

Thank you for the prayers.

Well, while at WDW, I bet we will run into each other. You can't miss us, I'll be the one chasing 2 obnoxious screaming boys yelling "YOU BETTER QUIT OR I'LL SPANK YOU WITH MY MICKEY EARS!"
