We stayed at the Contemporary on our trip last week (11/12 - 19) on the remodeled 10th floor. The new carpeting is nice and has the Contemporary's Jetson-style you'd expect to see.
However, we missed the old room decor that practically screamed "Disney." The new decor is nice, but it mostly screams "upscale hotel." We noted that the designers gave a passing homage by including a hidden Mickey, but other than that (and the fact that the new HD TV still has the same sad channel selections), you'd probably not know you were in a Disney hotel until you opened the door to hear Chef Mickey's and the monorail.
The room decor is very stylish with dark wood and earth tones. The desk area is nice, but the desk chair is not that comfortable for watching TV (but then again given the choice of channels Disney almost guarantees you won't do much of that). We liked the new drapes, which easily overlap to block out the light when you want to sleep late.
The beds are comfortable, but the new spreads are rather heavy. It's nice if the room is too cool, but given the motion-sensitive A/C, by the middle of the night the spread gets rather toasty. We usually tossed it off the bed sometime during the night.
The towel ladder in the bath is nice -- frees up space and makes the towels easy to grab. But the sinks -- well, they are nice Koehler sinks -- very wide, but not very deep. We found we had to be careful, otherwise water will easily splash on the walls and floor.
The coffee maker/supplies and fridge are now "hidden" beneath the counter between the two closets. The bellman advised us of this.
The "mantle" and faux fireplace are a nice touch... just enough light to see by. But overall, even with most or all of the lights on, we felt the room still seemed somewhat dark.
When we left on the 19th, remodeling was working on the 9th floor MK side.
