Like Kathy, I am still bitter about the Lights of Winter....this video always cheers me a little though, some of you may have seen it before, but I think it's worth a second watch. :santa:

http://www.flixxy.com/best-christmas-lights-display.htm

The home is in Cincinatti, Ohio. Apparently the display caused such traffic problems the police asked him to shut it down during certain hours. Instead he starting charging $5 a car and used the money to hire off duty police officers to direct traffic.

I found an old (2006 or 2007) travel channel Samantha brown Disney holiday special on one of the twc on demand channels yesterday. (265 I think) in it she makes a big deal of the epcot tree lighting show and the lights of winter. Guess we know why this special was left to rot on the on demand channel.

I got Nostalgic (which is only a little removed from being bitter) so here goes:

Carol of the Bells and in Hi Def

Dance of the Sugar Plum Fairy

Standing in Motion

God Rest Ye Merry Gentlemen and others

I Don't Know the Name of this Music but at 1:21 into the video the monorail passes behind LofW

This one includes the LofW announcement (and Joy to the World)

The Osborne Lights technology seems to me to be more advanced than LofW but that's just no excuse for abandoning LofW and its incredible setting (nostalgia, Jack, nostalgia).

Thanks Jack. Those were nice to watch. Carol of the Bells is my favorite.

Thank you for the videos. It still boggles my mind that Disney couldn't do something like this in 2011. I know! I am the Mayor of Bitter Town.

Just to Clarify. That is Bill Holdmans home in Utah www.holdman.com/christmas. He did cause a rather large traffic problem in his subdivision and now the display is at a local mall. I don't believe he ever charged to see his display. Bill is one of a handful of people considered a founder of modern animated Christmas displays (along with Carson Kresley whose home was on the beer commercial a few years back).

If you want to learn more about how it's done visit http://www.planetchristmas.com. I had a large display and have taken a few years off to recharge. We just decided last week that we're going to roll out the big display again next year.
