I have heard so many wonderful things about Sea World...IF we just do the Disney thing will we eally be smissing out? My son is 12 years old...

In my opinion, you're looking at 2 different forms of entertainment. If your family or child is into sea life, you would definitely enjoy Seaworld. The shows are entertaining, and there are a few rides that are enjoyable for all ages. There are also many interactive tours ranging from $30-$100.00 where you can get up close with the animals there as well. It's also a little more relaxed pace than you would be at Disney. We make it a point to go to both parks when heading to Orlando. :thumbsup2

We spent one day there out of our 9 day trip - it was nice to get away from all things Disney for a while and the shows were really great. While less crowded, in order to see all the shows and exhibits, you do need to have a plan or you'll be backtracking all day. It was DD8's favorite day of our trip. We'll be back.

If you're thinking of going, check online for info on some discounts. We saved $20 per ticket by pre-purchasing online using a discount code.

I kept hearing about Seaworld, too, and it took us a long time to actually get there. Now it's our favorite park. It's less about rides, more shows and exhibits, but very relaxing. There's a lot of educational value there, too, if anyone is interested. We ended up taking advantage of their "second day free" ticket, and went back.

Check their website for deals. We're doing the Orlando Flex ticket this time, but they sometimes have adults pay kid's price, second day free, or other promotions.

We love SeaWorld! I will say, though, that when we go to Disney, we stay at Disney since it is so vast. We did Sea World and Discovery Cove in combination with Universal and Islands of Adventure. They're all great though, so do what sounds most interesting for you and fits your budget.:goodvibes

Seaworld is just such a different experience than Disney, not better or worse, just different. You will have an opportunity to see marine life that you cannot see anywhere else other than in the wild. I highly recommend it. As much fun as Disney is, I'll be willing to bet that Seaworld will be one of your 12 year old's favorites.

Our son is now 13; we've been going to WDW and SW since he was 5. He adores SW (as do my husband and I). He's really interested in marine life, he loves the rides, and it is a nice break from WDW because it's so specialized/different. The animal shows are all tremendous, and the exhibits are of SUCH high quality -- light years ahead of what you encounter at most aquariums.

So, in our family's experience, yes -- you're missing out if you don't try Sea World for a day!
