Please try to bear with me as I ramble on....
A friend & I went out the other night and left our kids at my house with a sitter. The sitter was watching my DS12, DD7, friend's DS7 ("Johnny") and neighbor's DS10 ("Timmy").
We returned home pretty late that night (well after midnight). 3 of the 4 kids were already fast asleep, Babysitter was watching TV, and little Johnny was in my son's bedroom playing with our PSP. Sitter left first - Johnny was still playing PSP. He was asked several times to put it away & get his coat/shoes on. Then they left within 5 minutes.
We woke up very early the next morning. DS12 immediately asked where his PSP was since he had plans to take it to his dad's that day. We looked everywhere ~ it's not in my house. I called both Johnny & Timmys parents and asked them to please look for it, maybe it got mixed up in their things.
Timmy's mom checked everywhere and couldn't find it. In fact, Timmy doesn't recall even seeing it that night (right - he was sleeping)
I waited a few days - Johnnys mom never called me back. I tried again & she said she's just too busy to look. OK, its been almost a week and she says "I asked Johnny and he said he doesn't have it". I didn't ask you to "ask Johnny"...I asked you to LOOK for it.
I'm sooo angry. I KNOW one of those boys has it. I'm not saying they stole it, I honestly believed it could've been an accident. But Johnny's mother is not cooperating at all.
I am 100% positive its not here. We've searched top-bottom-inside & out for many many hours since then. Timmy's mom was even nice enough to come help me look.
I don't know what to do now? My DS12 is soo upset. I'm sooo mad at myself for letting this happen. How do I explain to DS that it's gone and there's nothing I can do about it. That PSP was a gift from his grandmother - its certainly not something I could afford to replace.
Any advice on how to approach the other parents again....or how to explain it to DS?
