I would be the kind to put money in my pocket, wash it, dry it, fold it and still be sure that someone took it from my pocket. I am spacey with money. Not a good thing.
Anyway, I have a cousin who visited Washington State and knowing her, she stayed in an upscale hotel. Anyway, she had EVERYTHING in her room stolen... clothing included, while she and her friend were out of the room doing sight seeing.
Months and maybe longer after it happened is when she was telling me of it. I asked her if she checked with the desk to be sure that they didn't remove the things for a reason, or maybe they went to the wrong room? I just couldn't believe her story but she said, its true. All that the 2 girls had left was what was with them while they were out of the room. They filed a police report and I am sure that the hotel did nothing to compensate them. What a horrible experience.
I am good about using travelers check and the room safe. Even our cameras and the kids game boys and other valubles go in it. No problems yet. Knock on wood.

I feel bad about the OP losing money. It's no fun. Thank goodness it wasn't more $$.

Hi all. In the spirit of the thread, I'd like to mention that they now have laptop locks. They work something like a bicycle lock. DH takes one with him on business trips and locks his laptop to the toilet!

Just make sure to unchain your laptop before using the toilet or you might short circuit it!

My favorite part of this whole mess is "the Orange County police is handeling this now" LOL! If OC is like most places this will not be investigated or processed very much. Petty theft is pretty low on your average overworked police departments list. It would have to be CONSISTENT theft for them to get worried. (I can understand, I would rather my local police look for missing kids then missing $90.)

I don't think there's anything to "handle" unless whoever did it trots down to the police station and confesses.
