Missing a reservation...is there a penalty?

I know that there is a $20 fee for not canceling CG res. with 24 hour notice...but what about the other places? I don't plan on missing any ADR's but I just wondering if something "bad" happens...a curse...and angry pixie following you around for the rest of your trip...y'know...stuff like that! ;)

CG has one and any other deposit restaurant such as Akershus and if you miss the prepaid meals I am not sure what you can do about that.

Most restaurants do not carry a penalty for missing your reservation!

Hi, I have the same question for Crystal Palace. We have an ADR for breakfast at 8:25am but my family sleeps like bears and it's very hard to wake them up. Is there any penalty at this place?

I'm going to imagine that unless you gave a credit card # there is no way to penalize someone for missing a reservation...(my fiance sleeps like a log too which is why I was wondering if we missed a breakfast reservation would it be a problem!)

You would get a penalty for CRT also. Other places like Chef Mickeys, Crystal Palace, etc don't require a credit card so they really can't "hold" you to it!

No penalty for ADRs unless you have to prepay. However, if you know you are going to cancel (even if it's a few minutes before your seating time), I would find a phone and let them know so that other people can get into the restaurant more quickly.

Why not consider making a later ADR.:confused3 This way a family who is able to be there at 8:25 can make their ADR.

That is exacyly what I was thinking. It is one think to miss an ADR because something unforeseen happens, but it makes no sense to purposely schedule something which you think you will have a hard time getting to.

If they catch you there may be a penalty.

If you are in the Magic Kingdom they will make you immediately ride It's a Small World ten times in a row.

If you are at Epcot they will make you ride El Rio del Tiempo ten times in a row.

GREAT!!! I love those rides..would almost be worth missing my meal for ;)

There is a penalty only at those restaurants where you had to give a credit card number to secure your reservation. In those cases, you forfit the amount that was put on your credit card when you made the ressie.

However...if you know you can't make an ADR, be polite and cancel it or reschedule it so that someone else can use the space. With so many people on the dining plan, many of the restaurants are quite filled. Guess this means that the dining plan is serving its purpose.

Question:

Do they actually 'hold' a table for you if you have an ADR? Or do they simply give out ADRs based on restaurant capacity vs. average mael time? I know when we checked in for an ADR, they found our name on a list and made a card for us and put us into a seating queue. We wouldn't be placed in the seating queue if we had never checked in, so clearly they weren't holding a table for us. Am I confused as to how this works?

It was explained to me by a CM that an ADR isn't a reservation, but it seats you quicker for your party size. I guess first come, first serve based on your party size. :confused3

You're right, it's a vacation so no need to be very early, 1 hr later and we will be there without problems.
