i am so bummed I tried to rent points for the last three nights of our July trip to Oahu but by the time i sent in the money to secure the reservation it was no longer available and I even tried an alternate option but nothing in the room category we wanted (Studio Villa )was left. I am debating even paying the rack rate just to have a little taste of Disney Magic at the end of this trip but reeling a bit from the sticker shock as three nights would cost almost as much as the 11 nights we paid for an Ocean Front Condo on the North Shore. This is not our first time in Hawaii (did a cruise before plus spent time on Oahu) and Aulani has been on my bucket list since it's been built. I don't know whether to bite the bullet and just pay it or wait and see if there are any summer deals. Does Aulani ever have summer specials?

Was there a 1 bedroom available? I'm just wondering how the price of a 1 BR villa on rented points compares to the price of a studio on a cash reservation. The price difference may be negligible and the 1 BR would give lots more room.

Is it an option to add nights onto the start of your trip instead? Or maybe do 2 nights on a cash reservation instead of 3? IMO, even with 2 nights, that's enough to see and do most things at the resort. If you're concerned about not having time to try everything, you could also visit the resort during your condo stay for a meal or spa treatment or whatever.

PP brings up a good point. If you're seriously considering paying rack rate for a room, then why not compare renting points for a 1-bedroom villa (with full kitchen, in-room laundry, free parking, and twice the space to spread out and relax). When comparing, make sure you include all fees and taxes. The price difference may not be significant.

Thanks everyone. You are actually right when I added up the costs it really is pretty close and to have that space is amazing. Now I just hope there are one bedroom villas left.
