Miss Kathy and Me take on Disney--Update 5/23-- Must Do's -- Epcot -- Mary

Giving us a bump since we were on Page 3. Ms Kathy's Florida vacation is coming to a close. Looks like she had a great time!!! In trip related news I am finally going to break down and buy our airline tickets today :) and :( Gone are the days of $340 per way, it is now $480. Ah the joys of coming from the west. Gets us to our Happy Place!!!!

In non trip related news-here comes the bragging.....
Avery had her State Meet last weekend. She did amazing!! she is the Co State Champion on Bars!!! She came in 2nd (to her buddy) on the beam. On floor she was 6th and vault 9th-vault is her weakest event. She placed 4th All Around in her age group and 8th for all ages. Her 8th place finish qualified her for the AZ REGUONAL TEAM!!!! We are going to Vegas baby!!! Well Henderson actually :) For her first year competing she did AWESOME!!!

here you on the airfare...stalking the sites for our Nov trip!

congratulations to Avery! :banana::banana::banana:

Kathy I had fallen behind, but I am so sorry to hear about Cookie.

Your plans for Day 3 sound great!

Thanks, Shannon.

Day 3 looks great!!

Enjoy your trip... although, is there anyway you wouldn't enjoy your trip. I know Mark will work your fingers to the bone! :lmao:

Thanks, Tam. It was a good trip and, as always, great being with Todd and Nicki.

I'm sorry to hear about Cookie. As I've said on Facebook, I do think you've made the best decision. It's the one I would have made as well. Better to let Cookie live a possibly shorter, but much better quality end of life. It reminds me of my mom, and how she stopped treatments and got to enjoy spending time with her family and friends in a nice relaxed atmosphere instead of being stuck at a hospital.

Enjoy your short Florida trip!

Mel, thanks. Your words helped.

Wishing you a ton of fun and good times this next week. I'll follow on FB!

Plans for Day 3 sound like they are a mix of just enough rides, attractions and fun times with your little friends (and moms)!

Enjoy your week!

Thank you, Brenda. We had a blast.

Have a GREAT trip Ms. Kathy!!! pixiedust:

Thank you; we did have a great trip.

Hugs, Kathy.....
So sorry that Cookie had rotten news.

I hope you are able to go down to Florida and experience some sunshine and warmth....:flower3:

We had beautiful weather on the trip...in the mid 80's, humid and no rain. :thumbsup2

Enjoy the sun and the well deserved break, I am thinking of you and Cookie and while I know it's hard I do think you are doing the right thing as well.

Day 3 looks fun even if you do fade early, I mean the kids fade early. :) fly safe!

Thanks, Cynthia. Andy took very good care of Cookie while we were gone.

Have a great trip Kathy! Come back nice and tan and rested. I'll think of you in the sun while you think of me! :wave2:

I was able to get a little color...which helped coming back to our crummy weather.

What a fun day 3! So much to see and enjoy at AK.

We always enjoy spending the day at AK, then evening at MK - it will be nice to have the next morning to sleep in a bit.

Have a wonderful week! Cookie will be in good hands, so you can relax and enjoy all the palm trees and sunshine. God speed!

Thank ou, Christine. I love AK, and I know Avery loves seeing the animals.

Have a fun and safe trip!

Day three plans look fun of fun!

Thanks, Ann. I think Day 3 will be a lot of fun.

You are going to have so much fun with all the girls!!!

It will be a great trip.

So sorry to hear about Cookie..

Thank you.

Your day 3 update sounds like a great plan!! I always look forward to AK days...its always nice to head back to the room for a bit after that to recover from the heat (possibly even swim to recover!!):beach:

I agree; AK is one hot park (although at times I've thought the Studios was hotter)

MK EMH is always a great way to end a day! We usually rest longer in the afternoon on those days and then head over there later than normal. I took my friends 8 yr old with me in June to EMH and she lasted until about 2am (they were open until 3am)...then she crashed and sleep walked all the way back to the room. ::yes:: She was proud she did it though!

Good for her; awesome job!

I hope you enjoy your rest and relaxation!! Can't wait to hear about it! :thumbsup2

I hope to get an update done on our trip on my December TR later this week. Work is killing me getting back into a groove.

Your Day 3 plans sounds wonderful... I have a lot of love for the Animal Kingdom- I think it's a really special place ...:goodvibes and you can't beat an evening at the MK...

I'm with you...I love AK; I wish more people did.

I really am sorry about Cookie... I do think that you're making the right decision... & all things in time... She's a lovely little dog and you've made a very lovely life for her...

Thank you.

(When Eric and I were first married-we had a little Scottish Terrier named Angus- I adored that little guy... even after Ems was born... he was my special boy... unfortunately when he was only 7 he got Lymphoma and was really very sick... we didn't know what to do and we had taken him to the Vet School at the University of Pennsylvania- which is pretty much the gold standard of care in our area...

I'll never forget the English Vet who attended Angus. He more or less said to do what you are planning to do with Cookie... take care of her and love her until she's just too uncomfortable/in pain... & that dogs unlike people live lives that are just so physical... they can't retreat into their heads like people can when they are sick and its up to us and sometimes (many times in his opinion) not having them go through extensive, invasive treatments is the kindest, strongest option since they can't make sense of what's happening to them. (In other words just cause we are ABLE to do something... DOESN'T mean that we should)

She needs love and comfort now-and I'm sure you're going to give her lots of both...

Thank you so much for that...it helped a lot.

:sad2:

I don't find it sad at all. ;)

Have a great time (even though I'm a few days late).:thumbsup2

Thanks, and we did.

By the way, I love Mark's new Darth Vader shirt! :thumbsup2 :rotfl2:

Isn't that a great shirt?

Sorry to hear about cookie. you do and will continue to give her a GREAT comfortable life.

your plans look awesome.. and hey if you need to take a child i am sure Meg will love to go with you!! HA HA!

Thank you, Mo. So far she is doing okay.

I'll let you know if I need Meg. :)

So sorry to hear of your beloved puppy. They are our family members and it is so difficult to have to make those decisions.
Hope you are having a nice time on your vacation.

Thank you so much. They truly are our family. We had a very nice time on the trip.

I have been away for a few days. We went over to the Maine coast to celebrate my husbands birthday. Most of our family lives in Massachusetts so we were able to have a big party over there with the kids and his brothers and there families or at least most of them and the big news was I kept it a surprise that everyone was coming. So sorry about Cookie...enjoy her while you can.

I hope you had a great celebration.

Day 3 plans look great.

Thank you.

Enjoy your trip now and know you will be back there again soon.

51 more days and i'll be back.

Loving your plans so far, Ms. Kat!! :thumbsup2

Thanks, Camille.

As I said on FB, I'm so sorry for the news on Cookie, you are a good Momma, and I know you're making the best decision for your baby.

Thanks.

The girls trip looks like it's going to be a great time!! What a well appointed stress reliever this will be for you. With all the wedding planning and what not, this trip will bring you home relaxed and ready for a beautiful wedding for your baby's. :lovestruc

:hug:I think the girls trip is just what the doctor ordered.

Very sorry to hear about Cookie. She is one lucky pet to have spent her life with people who show her so much love. Hope it eases your heart to know that when her time comes she will continue to get lots of lovin from your dad. Enjoy your trip with the girls.

It warms my heart that she'll be with dad again.

Yep snow. Woke up and that white crap was everywhere.. THEN during the kids first game it was snowing!!! :faint:
tired of this cold!!! bring home some sunny weather PLEASE!!!

Seriously....cannot believe it. And they are calling for it again later this week. What the heck happened to Spring?

That cold air at Buffalo tonight was NOT welcome !!!!

It was actually 70 a couple of hours after we landed; but the cold front and snow is coming back.

Guess I wasn't as far behind as I thought....

I think I said this on FB, but just in case, so sorry about Cookie! I am sure this dog is going to be spoiled rotten in the time she has left with you! She is one lucky pooch to know how much you all love her
!

She is; she got dog treats for the first time in 13 years yesterday (she's only had mini carrots for treats since she was 2 and we were trying to figure out her allergy; believe it or not, I don't think she cared for them :rotfl2::rotfl2::rotfl2:)

Welcome Back Ms. Kathy!!! :goodvibes

Thank you. Goofy.

Well, Mark and I were catching up on all of our shows on the DVR and just resting from a busy week thus far at work. I will try to get an update done tomorrow...I have Day 4 plans ready to go.

Thanks for your patience.

Welcome home! Sorry I've fallen behind again...

I am sorry to hear about Cookie - but you made the same decision that we made with Rufus last year... We could have put him on dialisis, but it would have been a horrible life for him. As hard and agonizing as it was to let him go - he was able to spend his remaining weeks with us, and hopefully he got enough love and hugs to carry him over. Our pets are our family and our children... Cookie is so lucky to have you and Mark for so many years giving her the best life that every animal dreams of. (((Hugs)))

I tried to keep up with your trip on FB, but I will admit that I even fell behind there. I am looking forward to hearing all about it and can't wait for your next trip too!

D~

Welcome home Kathy! Hope it was a great trip overall even though I'm sure it had its ups and down.

Amazing statistics for Avery! Wow - that is just phenomenal for someone just starting out. Looks like she found her niche! :thumbsup2

Welcome home! Sorry I've fallen behind again...

D, no worries. I am behind on everyone's TR's...including my own. Who knew that 8 days away would put me that far behind.

I hope to do the Florida trip recap from last week later this week.

D~

And I hope you decided to keep BOG!

Welcome home Kathy! Hope it was a great trip overall even though I'm sure it had its ups and down.

Thanks, MEK; welcome back to you too (I see you and Cynthia have done a number of updates...I have to get over there at some point. Work has been crazy since I got back, the kids will be here this weekend. There just isn't enough time in the day.

With the exception of some not great business, we had a wonderful trip.

We are up to Monday, June 10.

This is going to be one of my favorite days of the trip. Why you might be asking yourself? Well, I will tell you why...in a minute.

We are sleeping in a little bit this morning as we don't have breakfast until a bit later than usual. And it is in our resort. We will be having breakfast here:

In case you can't tell where "here" is, it is Cape May at the Beach Club.

And the reason this is going to be one of my favorite days is becasue joining Mary, Avery, Cayley and I at breakfast will be MaryEllen (MEK here on the DIS). I've been following MEK's TR's for awhile now and let me tell you she has a real talent with taking pictures and did a lovely tribute to a DIS friend who passed away last year (Tracy). The woman is talented. I've been hoping our paths would cross one of these trips and they finally are.

After we have a delightful breakfast and chatting with MEK and getting character pictures of the kids with the characters (yes, I may hop in there too)

we will be taking the back door to Epcot. We have a full day planned at Epcot. I'm sure we will be doing some of these:

The stinky ride as Cayley calls it:

We might see this guy along the way:

I'm sure the girls will want to try the new Test Track since they've not seen it.

And they'll want to be driving too:

We won't be stopping for lunch, but we will snack a little. As we have a 4:30 dinner at Tutto Italia. I have never been here and I am looking forward to it.

Evening plans are to stay at Epcot or, if we didn't get to it on our Studios day, to go back to the Studios to see Fantasmic.

Up next, Tuesday, June 11, and my last full day with the girls

Fun Dismeet for breakfast! :thumbsup2

Unfortunately, I don't think she's the only one who calls it that. :rotfl2:

I look forward to this update. I love me some Italian food, but I'm hooked on Via Napoli and feel like it is almost too over the top to get an ADR for both. I guess you can tell me whether or not we should do that next time... :rolleyes1

love all your plans! nice you will get to meet up with MEK too!

hope you have gotten settled back in at home and getting lots of snuggle time with Cookie

Sorry I have been so MIA lately. First Welcome home! Second I'm so sorry about Cookie. Finally, loving the plans so far. You will really enjoy meeting MEK. I have had the pleasure to meet her twice now. She is a lovely lady.

Plans look great Kathy!:thumbsup2

Oh I hope you enjoy Tutto as much as we do when we have eaten there!!

Mmmm, your Cape May breakfast should be a great way to start day 4! I love that you are so close to Epcot there. Last day with the girls coming up? I guess it's too early to be too :( since it hasn't happened yet. :goodvibes Love the shark pic with the girls!

Day 4 sounds great!!!

Sleeping in sounds good...

Breakfast with Mary Ellen joining you all!! :cool1:

I have never been to Tutto Italia either... I can't wait to read all about it. :goodvibes

Welcome back to the real world. We are experiencing cold weather here in Kansas too. I'm not sure if spring is ever coming.....

I'm so sad that we had to bow out of the Cape May breakfast, but with our guests coming in we just have to get them into the parks before the crowds get there. This is a first trip for them and they are only spending three days. So we thought it best to do rope drops.
Oh well, still hoping for some pool time together in the afternoon!:goodvibes

How awesome that you have another DISmeet planned! We've yet to do Cape May breakfast, but I'm always tempted.
