My first name is Jamey. I've gotten called Janey many, many times!
kimisabella said:I have never run into anyone who has pronouced our last name correctly (with the exception of the italian cm who works in alfredo's in epcot). It is Marchese, which is pronounced Mar-kay-zee. People always pronounce it Mar-cheese, or Mar-Cheesey - we don't even bother correcting people anymore, we answer to anything.
. Why would someone in America (where Geoffrey is normally pronounced "Jeffrey") even give the kid that name and expect people to just know how to say it?? It's just asking for a lifetime of frustration when you name your kid something that is oddly spelled or that is pronouncable in more than one way.
