My DD's favorite song used to be 'Crocodile Rock' and she used to sing 'got an Uncle Chevy and a place of my own' instead of 'got an old gold Chevy and a place of my own'.
So THOSE are the words. I always thought it was "Got an old boat Chevy".
And does anyone really know the lyrics to "C'mon Eileen"? I love that song and make up my own words every time because I have NO idea what they are saying.
The proper term for misunderstood lyrics is "MondeGreen". There used to be a really good site full of mondegreens on the web, but it appears to have gone away. Here is a link to a site that expains the origin of the term MondeGreen and a few examples:
