Mislead , misinformed , and just plain lied to...

If it was me I'd kinda give WDW a pass. It was the first week of operation of probably the most complex, in demand ride in history. They gave an opening date and they stuck to it. But I wonder if they had the choice if they would have pushed it back. Your first HS day you didn't get to ride, but received a FP and free 1 day ticket i think was pretty good compensation. I get you had plans, but if I had a 10 day trip no matter what I had planned the next day...I'd spare a few hours to go and ride it.

I've been to WDW >25 times in the last 20 years. I've made a few complaints. I hope your intentions of secondary complaints are for feedback and not fishing for ADDITIONAL compensation...as I don't think it's warranted.

Hopefully your future trips go more smoothly.
^ THIS, SO MUCH THIS

Look, here's the thing. Years ago I organized and ran a ski trip with about 30 ADULTS. We pull up in a bus to where we are staying and I say, "Hey, everyone, Give me a sec. I'm just going to go in and get everyone's packets so I can hand you all room keys and lift tickets now, before you get off the bus so I don't have to run around and track you all down."
Yeah, you can guess what happened. Everyone got off the bus before I could get back, literally a minute later, and I had to chase them all down like a heard of cats.

OK, so now multiply that by about 20k and mix in a never-before-seen ride that absolutely everyone wants to ride, but, numbers don't lie, not everyone can. Now do that, every day. I guarantee that day-to-day you'll make adjustments, and not all of those adjustments will work out. In fact, you might even say some of those adjustments will be regrettable mistakes. Heck, that's exactly what you are saying you want to happen even now! And, you know, now that I think about it, it has ALWAYS been this way. FoP had its issues, the OG TT did too, not to mention the early days of Star Tours and IJ out in DL. By all accounts, ROTR has gone FAR more smoothly than Hagrids over at USF.

You got to ride, fun was had, what's the problem?

- decided not to offer FP+ for this attraction (as of now)
I don't want them to add FP to it. I cannot imagine the terrible line that would be it if they had added it (as FP tends to make the SB line longer). Also the insane amount of angry people that they couldn't get a FP for it so they'll never get to ride it and so terrible of Disney to make us plan 60days in advance how are we supposed to know yadda yadda yadda

I'd love for them to be like Universal did with HP and not have FP for years.

I believe they are still running Rise at half (or something like that) capacity because they still have issues with the riding mechanism. That certainly doesn't help with the boarding groups.

That may be true, but at least it's still running. I know I've been stuck in much-longer lines than I had planned on for FoP and Soarin' because they've had to go to 1/2 operation to fix something. The first time I ever rode TT we returned to to EPCOT twice just to ride TT because it kept breaking down or getting shut down due to weather. This is really not that unusual and the BG's beat the snot out of the 8-10 hour lines everyone was predicting - and that have come to be at Hagrids.

Hagrids still ran it actually ran so hard so much that's part of the issue as they were letting rides ride well past closing time. It didn't have the down time for anyone to really work on it which is why they adjusted the operating times for a while to allow work to be done. I don't put much stalk in a 10hr wait. Has it been that anywhere near that since its opening day where lots of bloggers and media were there? FOP had 6hr waits. I don't put much stalk in that either.

I actually considering the Boarding groups to be the equivalent to Universal. Both had issues. Disney just had the whole "we're blocking you from the get go" aspect rather than allowing people to wait in the line for as long as they wanted to. Universal did sorta the same thing when Diagon Alley and prior to that Hogsmeade opened up when they cut off the line to the entrance into the land but they gave people return tickets that had a time to come back to.

Part of the reason the lines aren't as long is because 1) no FP 2) they control the number of people per day. Because they controlled the number of people allowed in you won't really know how long the line could have been but I bet it would be longer if they allowed people to make the decision to wait or not wait vs having to put themselves in a line to even get a shot (because the Boarding groups don't guarantee you'll be able to ride).

Anyways we digress from the topic of the thread :o
