Mishaps & Magical Moments...Day 7 Added!

Hey Nicki,

Sorry you received the news you did not want to hear...I remember the first time the doctor told me you are pre-diabetic! loose weight and exercise or meds! :headache: Danny has been on meds for cholesterol for a few years, now...his is diet and heredity. But, yesterday he was told he is pre-diabetic now. I haven't been back to the doctor since Ashton was a year old...(with all his medical problems and me not wanting to hear how my blood work would come out--along with the 40#'s I gained since I stopped nursing  )...I know how you feel

Now, I did really well changing when I was pregnant (even lost close to 30#'s--while I was pregnant--of course it did not show until the week after Ashton was born)...so, we are going to start a new regimen in this household, too! We are going to go back watching what we eat around here too!

Good luck! you can do it!!!! and we will have to give that supplement a try over here too! and look at it this way you are teaching your boys a better way of eating...as for Disney that is one week a year...get yourself under control and when you go to Disney with all the walking you will be great! its the holiday's that are always our downfall--you start in Nov and don't end until Jan  :lmao:

Have a great day!

Thursday, February 5th 2010 - Animal Kingdom Day!
Today started out with a great big ole headache and way to early!! We were up and dressed and out at the bus for AK at 7:00. The bus took about 30 minutes to arrive and I kept thinking, "UGH I could have slept longer!!!" But the sun was out and shining so bright- that it was ok to sit there in the sun and drink our coffee and wait for the bus.

We made it to the AK for our 8:00ADR at the Tusker House.

Let me first say that I was really tired and cranky.... and that maybe drinking around the world at Epcot wasn't such a great idea when you had an 8:00ADR the next morning.... looking back now I really wish we had just skipped breakfast and slept in. While walking to the ADR I was pushing the double stroller, the kids were acting up a bit- they were dropping things and I had to keep stopping and they were fighting and I just wasn't feeling good- I look over at my loving husband who is typing away on his beloved blackberry updating all his fans on his status. I said maybe a little too harsh... "Are you going to be on the da** blackberry again all day!" Well, he was mad. He then updated his status that he would not be updating again that day because of me. He took the boys and headed over to breakfast leaving me to trail behind (or he as he said to mope) but I did get a good picture of the tree!

IMG_4175.jpg

When we got to the TuskerHouse we had a picture taken outside with Donald (which I ended up buying- it came out cute even though Wayne and I were not talking to eachother) and then were led inside to our table. They explain a few times that when the characters come out to be ready for them to sign and take pics. I really feel like they are always so rushed at this breakfast. We did have a great waitress and the food is awesome. I guess at this place I would say the food is better than the character interaction- which I think is rare! At first I thought maybe it was our negative vibe that the characters didnt spend any time at our table but then I remembered I had thought the same thing last year when we went!

We met Mickey

IMG_4177.jpg

The kids had fun and the food was good and the whole reason for the breakfast was to get out on an early Safari and as we left the Tusker House, we were the first family at the rope drop for the Safari!

IMG_4192.jpg

Well they must have let everyone in before 9:00 because right before they dropped that rope the whole area got really packed. We went from being the first and only family at that rope to being pushed by soooooooooooooooooooo many people rushing ahead to get on the Safari. It was SOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO ANNOYING!!!!!!!!!!!! We ended up having to wait around 10 minutes because of all the people that had pushed by us. It was so rude and not a very magical way to start our day at Animal Kingdom!

The Safari was very cool though. There were these baby giraffes that started running .... really fast! I had never seen a giraffe run before...
IMG_4209.jpg

I love the elephants!
IMG_4215.jpg

IMG_4219.jpg

IMG_4226.jpg

After the Safari we headed towards "It's tough to be a bug" (BTW ... Wayne and I still havent spoken to eachother)

IMG_4227.jpg

So I do not know if you noticed anything different about Myles in this picture! As we were waiting to be let into the show Myles had a small meltdown. He was SO AFRAID of what this show would bring. He has seen this on youtube a few times and said he wanted to do it. Well during the show, he ended up laying on the floor and crying. And then after the show he said, "that wasnt scary at all! I liked it!" OMG what am I going to do with this kid!!!!!!

From what I could hear/see of the show when I wasn't comforting Myles, I thought was awesome!!

After this it was around 10:00 and we decided to see the Nemo show. I do not have pictures - but we all LOVED this show. We sat where you could put your feet up on the bar.... one level up. The actors in the show would run right in front of us. It was so amazing. Wayne and I both got a little teary in the show- they were just that good. It was just what we needed... after the show Wayne gave me a hug and said he didnt want to fight in Disney. We were happy again!!

We went to Dinorama next. I love this area for the kids. It is too cute!!
IMG_4231.jpg

Myles and Owen wanted to sit together for tricera top spin and wayne and I sat together behind them. (let me tell you- those seats are not big ... I had to sit almost sideways! Good thing we were not fighting anymore or that would have been a very uncomfortable ride.

IMG_4229.jpg

We took the boys to the Dino Land playground. We warned them ahead that this was going to be a quick stop- they would spend the whole day there if we let them!!

IMG_4235.jpg

IMG_4236.jpg

After this Wayne walked right on Everest! There were still no waits and we were loving being at Disney in February!!

It was around noon and our ADR wasn't until 1:30 or so, and we stopped in Yak & Yetti to see if we could sit early (We did this for almost every lunch ADR! Good thing it was February because in May we wouldn't have been able to change them so easily) We were in luck and were seated right away.

IMG_4239.jpg

I decided that the best thing for my hangover to go away would be to order a nice cocktail!!
IMG_4242.jpg

Lunch was again so yummy!!!!

Wayne's Lunch (Wings for appetizer and Shrimp and Steak for the entree)
IMG_4243.jpg

IMG_4245.jpg

I got the pan seared pot stickers and a burger.

IMG_4244-1.jpg

IMG_4246.jpg

We decided to head home after lunch and maybe get some pool time in!
.... But we saw Devine on our way and had to stop!
IMG_4250.jpg

.... then we saw these guys so had to stop again!
IMG_4255.jpg

We waited a few minutes for the bus and we were all pretty sleepy and ready for some pool time and a rest!

IMG_4258.jpg

Coming up: Am I that person whose child just nearly drowned and threw up in the pool?? and Dinner at Narcoosees!

I love the picture you closed with! so sweet!!!
Oh! no on the pool...

sorry to hear you and Wayne had a meltdown...I think it is the nature of the fast passed over stimulated type of vacay Disney is...no matter how slow you take things!
but Hugging and making up is always fun! :upsidedow

So, after your comment about breakfast and knowing that you and Wayne have done a great deal of them with the boys...
which ons do you recommend for Ashton. I like what you said about the food for Danny and I...but, as we all do... this part is really for Ashton!

so, far I have ressies for Donald AK, Crystal Palace MK, and Ohana's
I need to CX two...since we have decided to try T-rex (I think my dino fan will love that one)...I was really leaning toward Donald at AK, until today! :confused3 HELP!

Phew - glad you two made up! It happens to all of us at some point or another, I think! :flower3: Sorry the morning got off to a rough start, but it sounds like the day picked up after a bit. Those baby giraffes are so cute! Love the TS picture of the boys with their arms around eachother! So sweet!
:goodvibes

This was such a good update! :)

We are trying Tusker House for breakfast for the first time in July. Glad to see pics of it!

Ugh, I hate how rude people can be with all the pushing and shoving. They act like it's the end of the world if they don't get in line ahead of everyone else.

Aw, love that pic of the boys on the bus. It's amazing what angels sleeping boys are! :rotfl:

Sounds like you had a (mostly) good morning at AK! I completely understand your issue with DH on the Blackberry. Mine has an iPhone and is obsessed with it. He did a lot of tweeting at WDW. Luckily, we kept it under control enough to not get in a fight on the trip, but it's caused problems before. :rolleyes1

We saw a running giraffe on our safari too! Isn't it cool? I was lucky enough to get a bit of it on video, since I couldn't see it very well in person. So fun to see!

Looking forward to hearing about the rest of your day!

Great updates!!! I had missed a few and just got caught up. Where to begin... we did the tequila flight on our "grown up" trip in October. It was soooo good. We did it a few times actually:rolleyes1 Sounds like a fun day drinking around the world. That is our plan for our trip to Epcot. When I was reading your post, I just kept thinkiing that we would have so much fun together! One of these days...

Sorry to hear about your health issues. Losing weight is such a pain. I HATE having to worry about every little thing that goes in my mouth. You'll be fine though. I've lost about 50lbs over the last year or so and the reason I did it was for health. I wasn't unhealthy to begin with but I knew I needed to lose weight. I've tried to lose before for vanity reasons and it just never came off. Doing it for my health and ultimately for my kids really made a difference. Good luck with everything:hug:

Your AK morning cracked me up. I bet you were feeling yucky! What a miserable feeling! You are a trooper for getting up that early for your ADR!!! Jason and I got in a huge fight a couple of trips ago. We were in The Living Seas (before Nemo) and we had a miscommunication. We both needed to go to the bathroom and we got our meeting places mixed up. We ended up looking for each other for over an hour:scared1: He'd be upstairs and I'd be downstairs... It was so aggrevating and of course we both blamed each other. We finally found each other outside of the ride. We were not speaking, obviously while walking through the Land pavillion and a CM stopped us. He was complimenting us on what a cute couple we were and told us to enjoy our time at Disney. He could tell we were having a tiff. He made us kiss and make up. It was so funny. That was probably 8 years ago and we still talk about him to this day!

Can't wait to read more:surfweb:

I'm uploading pictures to photobucket right now so I'll share the double decker bus later.
I'm sorry to hear about the doctor issue. With the right motivation it won't be hard to loose weight. All I needed to think about was how I wanted to see my kids get married and me become a grandmother and it was much easier to loose weight. I really watch what I eat now and go to the gym almost daily.
Sorry to hear you day got off to a rough start. Me and husband bicker in Disney too sometimes. The sun can really start to get to you.
The picture of the boys on their dinosaur and on the bus are just priceless. I love their shirts.:thumbsup2
Character interaction is never the best (from what we have experienced) at busy dining times. I was reading a TR earlier that a faimly who had a 9 PM Chef Mickey reservation had all the characters to themselves.
Glad to hear the weather was finally warming up. Yikes about the pool!:scared1: Hope it is not one of yours!

Hey Nickie! Sorry about the bad news at the docs. I know how you feel. I gained 60lbs with Emily and didn't loose much of it, then you add the 25lbs I gained with Eva and :scared1:!! It will be hard to change your diet, but you can do it :worship:!! In the process, you'll be helping the rest of your family get healthier too! I've set a goal to loose 5lbs a month before our vacay! We can cheer each other on!!:cheer2::cheer2:

It's a shame you were a Grumplestilskin on such a beautiful morning! I'm glad you two made up though! When Wayne posted that he was not allowed to FB that day, I told him to sneak us an update when her was in the bathroom!!:rolleyes1 I'm never grumpy , but when Mike turns into Sir GrumpsAlot at Disney, I remind him of the rules of Disney: 1) No swearing at Disney & 2) No being crotchity at the happiest place on Earth!! :rotfl:

We love the Nemo show too! It does bring tears to your eyes!! Too funny about Myles and ITTBAB! Emily loved that show! Emily is not afraid of anything, which is kinda scary itself!!

The boys are adorable, as always!!!:lovestruc

Hi there. Just coming in now and I'm all caught up. Thankfully it wasn't too far into it yet.;) I got to read your last TR and enjoyed it too.
I wanted to say my DH and I took our grandson (15m at the time) in Dec. We had crazy weather too. Oh and our Animal Kingdom day was not a good day for DH and I either. We both were not in the best of moods, not sure why but it was also the hottest day for us and we started off cold. Our GS also had diarrhea for some reason. It was just not as good a time as I wished.

I would still do AK over Ohana because of getting into the park early and being right at the safari! Unless you were not planning an 8:00 ADR ...then that would change everything!! I think I like the food and characters better at Ohana but we really LOVE Stitch in this house!!! If Ashton really loves Stitch then I would say go Ohana!! I like how the food is brought family style for Ohana and at AK it is a buffet - so it seems so busy to me because you are rushing to see all the characters and get your food and be out of the park before 9:00! The food at both is REALLY good!!!

I think I would have been fairly crabby that morning too if I had drank so much the day before :rotfl:...glad you guys worked it out pretty easily!!! Your AK day looks like a lot of fun. I'm glad to hear Myles wasn't too scared of ITTBAB...my DD is 4 and wants to try it. Can't wait to read more!

Owen was two and wasnt afraid at all! Myles is weird about that stuff- fine on Space Mountain but afraid of a silly show!

Welcome!! I think Disney can be a stressful vacation sometimes and when the weather is all crazy it just adds to the stress!

Yippee! Let's cheer eachother on. I have done really good since I found out- I really needed this kick in the you know! Since Wednesday I am down 6 pounds! I really feel like I have no choice but to stick to this and my goal is to be down 40 by August. Good Luck to you!!
Oh and Yes I know- I cant believe I was so crabby in Disney! And Wayne had told me about your post about sneaking a post :rotfl2:
Owen is a lot like Emily- no fear! It is kinda scary- but great at places like Disney!!

I'm uploading pictures to photobucket right now so I'll share the double decker bus later.

Thank you so much! Yes I think that hearing the words that I could die from this really made me realize that I am going to do this no matter how hard so I can be here for my kids. I am surprised at how well I have done this week! And by how well my body already feels.

Great updates!!! I had missed a few and just got caught up. Where to begin... we did the tequila flight on our "grown up" trip in October. It was soooo good. Hey T! I really wish we lived closer- we would have a blast hanging out!! Maybe someday we will meet in Disney! Plan for February 2011!!!

Sounds like you had a (mostly) good morning at AK! I completely understand your issue with DH on the Blackberry. Mine has an iPhone and is obsessed with it. He did a lot of tweeting at WDW. Yes Wayne did the tweeting on the last trip and on this trip we just got new blackberries so he was really into updating facebook - everyone loved it, especially our moms! But it could get annoying at times for me!

This was such a good update! :)

We are trying Tusker House for breakfast for the first time in July. Glad to see pics of it!

Ugh, I hate how rude people can be with all the pushing and shoving. They act like it's the end of the world if they don't get in line ahead of everyone else.

Hey Sara- thanks!! I am going to try to get the rest of the day up now!

Mishaps & Magical Moments.... Day 6 Continued

Where did I leave off!?:confused3 Oh yes!! We took the bus back to the Poly and Owen had fallen asleep on the way back to the hotel. We figured it would be a good chance for us to check out the pool and Myles could swim while one of us could lay out a little at the pool and relax (me! princess:) After getting the swim suits and towels and all that stuff we walked around the pool a few times- NO CHAIRS! Now it is February... It was pretty cold... The sun was out (kind of) and I couldn't believe how small the pool area was. We ended up by the bar at a table and Wayne took Myles for a swim and I got us a couple of Mai Tais. The swim didnt last long... a few minutes later I see Wayne and Myles (who looked all upset) coming towards me:scared1: I guess Wayne was playing a little too rough and Myles went under and took in too much water. He then puked in the pool! YES - this was my child! :o We decide to go back to the room and get ready for dinner.

We got ready quick and caught the Tiki Ceremony at the Poly. It was really cool!!

IMG_4265.jpg

We decided to walk to the GF instead of the Monorail. It was such a nice walk!! The GF is so stunning!!!! They were doing a campfire on the beach and it looked really fun.

IMG_4267.jpg

IMG_4271.jpg

We arrived at 7:00 exactly for our ADR at Narcoosees and waited about 5 minutes for our table.

Wayne had crab cakes and surf and turf (he mentioned they had changed the crab cakes and these were fried and not as good as in May) Wayne is really not one to complain. He will eat anything!! But he said his steak was really not good.

IMG_4287.jpg

IMG_4291.jpg

I had a salad and the chicken. The salad was pretty good but the chicken wasnt anything special.

IMG_4288.jpg

IMG_4290.jpg

During the meal Wishes was about to begin so we had thought we could stay inside and watch because they dim the lights and pipe in the music but we couldnt see any fireworks!! The kids really wanted to see so we bundled them up and took them outside.... only to find the whole deck packed. There was only room at the very end and the view of Wishes was kind of obstructed. I was so surprised. I had always read that it was so magical from here and I have to say I MUCH PREFER Cali Grill view a million times more than at Narcoosees!!!!

IMG_4289.jpg

We had dinner here in May and was really looking forward to going back!! In May I will say the service was awful but the food and the location were great!! I have to say though we were REALLY disappointed in the meal and the service this time. Our waitress kind of ruined it for us. She never even asked if we wanted a second drink... I had to ask for her to refill my water anytime I wanted a refill and she would sigh and act like I troubled her! The food took forever and when it did come, Wayne said his steak was really tough. He had ordered the Surf and Turf. The worst was how we watched our waitress gush over certain tables- (the ones with no kids) and spend so much time with them and we just felt so ignored. It was so strange. She didnt even bring anything special or even acknowledge Myles Birthday. When it came time for the check we had been waiting so long with all our dishes still on our table that the boys went outside to wait. I sat there for about 10minutes after they left and waited and waited just to pay our bill. Because the food wasnt that great and the service was awful both times we will not waste two credits on this place again!

We ended up doing a little shopping at the GF and I got a Minnie Apron which I LOVE!!! Then headed back to the Poly for some much needed rest!!!!

Coming up: Day 7 Magic Kingdom and the Pirate & Pal Cruise

Yippee! Let's cheer eachother on. I have done really good since I found out- I really needed this kick in the you know! Since Wednesday I am down 6 pounds! I really feel like I have no choice but to stick to this and my goal is to be down 40 by August.
:woohoo:Congrats!!!:woohoo:

I had a thyroid problem after I had Joe and gained about 40 pounds. When Emma was 1 I decided I had to do something. I joined Weight Watchers and rewarded myself $10 Disney Dollars for every pound!

When my Mom got sick I gained a lot of back with her in ICU for 6 weeks. That was almost 4 years ago. I really need to get back on track!!!!

Too bad about your meal at Narcossee's. Mike and I ate there for our 3rd anniversary, so 5 years ago and I remember being less than impressed, but Mike enjoyed it.

Why doesn't the Poly do any fun stuff like a campfire on the beach or the movie like GF & BC? Mike and I were talking about our next couple of Disney vacations and I think we're going to stay at the BC (our favorite resort) in Oct. 2011 during the F&W Festival and the GF for our 10th anniversary in May 2012.

Poor Myles in the pool!:sad2: Atleast he wasn't a poop bandit!!:rotfl:

So sad to hear about your bad meal at Narcoosees. Joe loved his filet there last year. Maybe we should try Yachtman's this year-it would be closer to BWI too.

Oh yeah, congrats on your weight loss this week. YOU ROCK!!!!!:cool1:
