We have a trip booked for Sept 09. Our plan was to take my parents with us (so 4 adults, 1 child) and pay for their trip. Then the economy took a nosedive and I am desperate for a pin. I got the Kids under 9 Free code, but that is not for our dates. I was hoping for the free dining pin and have done everything known to man or beast to try and get one to no avail. I called last night to check yet again if I had a pin code and the CM asked me my dates then said YES, let me see what I can do for you. After 5 long minutes she tells me it's for the Kids under 9 Free and is not valid for my trip. My heart sunk. She said they are still sending out codes in the mail and a new promo was coming out in May. I thought April, but she said May. SIGH

So basically, if you are feeling my pain, please share, because I feel like one of the chosen FEW who will be forced to cancel and disappoint everyone or pay the ridiculous rack rates and be bitter. Boo hoo hoo

Go online and order the Planning DVD. Make sure you haven't blocked your email from getting any news from Disney Destinations, Disney Insider, etc. Then go online and punch in your dates, hotel, etc like you are planning a vacation. When it comes down to booking it online, exit from the site. A survey will pop up asking why you aren't booking at this time. In the comments section tell them you need a PIN in order to book because the prices are too high. I have done all of the above the past two years and both times recieved a 40% off code in Jan 2008 and Jan 2009. Is it a result of this or just random we'll prob never know but at least it's better than not trying Good luck. Here's hoping some Pixie Dust comes your way

I know what you mean. I am so frustrated right now because we have so much going on. I was supposed to start helping a friend at her business, but it has been slow so no part time job there. It's one thing after another from dental bills to a leaky pool. If we want to go to Disney, I have got to find a discount.

Ugh...I know. I'm a designer and the freelance work just came to a halt. We have a vacation bank account but we may need to dip into it if things do not pick up. Good luck to you!!

Just wanted you to know that you aren't alone in your misery! I booked back in November for 9/09 (my birthday and our family's first trip), on the hope and assumption that free dining will offered. If it's not, I think there is a good chance we'll cancel, and wait to see if other promos come out sometime that we like as well.

If it makes you feel better, when I called and asked about having a PIN, the CM was very reassuring that FD will be offered to everyone. She thought I was crazy to worry about getting that PIN, but I just want it to know that everything is all set and we're going for sure!

Disney is already offering the free dining (8/16 - 10/1) as a bounceback offer. Historically, when that has happened, it also becomes available to the general public in, I believe, April. NOT GUARANTEED to happen again, but with the economy the way it is, I don't see why they wouldn't this year. Keep your chin up and wait it out. Since you don't have to pay the trip off until 45 days out, you've got time to wait and see what April brings.

I have done everything from everyone's suggestions for weeks and nothing, this is going to be our 5th visit and my 18 year old is going with her friend and it will be her 5th visit and she has not gotten anything either. I called today and they told me that our 12 year old had a code for free dining that expired at the end of the year and told me to make sure she checks her email which she doesn't have any of! It must have come in the mail or gotten lost in the mail. Doesn't that just figure, we were there in December and sure could have used the free dining but didn't know anything about the code.

I feel your pain. My DD15 b-day is June 29 and mine is July 1st. They expand the 4/3 until August. Yay we can go for our bdays. Then I get laid off. Good thing, I am figuring out going back to school. My job had to do with the construction industry and it will take a while to recover.

Past year my health was not the best. Last year went to hospital with rapid heart rate. 180-210 bpm. Had been feeling twinges in my chest for the past several months. Haven't felt them since the day before I was laid off. That stress is gone. Went to Dr. last week and I lost 25 lbs in 3 months. Know how?? I stopped eating fast food. Mostly due to finances (they have been laying off people since Sept so I knew it was a matter of time)

My bright side is that it might be a couple of years before I can go back but Space Mountain will be finished by then.

I had a new idea today that might work. I haven't purchased airfare yet, and I went back to see how much it would be if DH joined us and it would only be around $235. If we don't fly and drove since DH would be there and we could take turns, it might work out after all. It would still be cheaper than the airfare would be!
