OK, I'm not doing a whole trip report because this is the trip that I would like to forget. Has anyone else had a totally miserable trip?
My DH made me cry several times. One time I walked away while waiting for a parade and sat on the bench far away from them. He didn't even know where I had gone.
My children fought endlessly. "He's touching me. Stop looking at me. I'm tired of waiting in line. Can we go back and play at the arcade?" Seriously?!? The boys are 16, 12 and 7. Not like they are small and it is to be expected. They should be able to survive a vacation together without any of these antics. Nope, just too much to ask of them.
My MIL, who has been claiming poverty for the last year.....spent HUNDREDS on my niece in souvenirs. Her poor brother got a set of hotwheels type cars and a shirt. She handed my kids $10 each for souvenirs. Don't know why I'm surprised by this.....the boys always get the short end of the deal. Niece is the only girl in the family and is SPOILED ROTTEN! She isn't even buying the kids Christmas gifts this year because they are so poor. To put it in perspective for yall, they bought a new motor home this past spring. Cheap, yes. Poor, I don't think so.
She also complained about the long days, tired feet, where we ate, what we rode, what we didn't ride, the crowds......did I miss anything?
The hotel lost the refrigerator from the swap I was in. Person before me left it at the desk 3 hours before I was to pick it up. Made several trips to the desk and spent nearly 3 hours waiting for information. Maybe housekeeping has it. Housekeeping says the desk has it. Desk says luggage services might have gotten it. In the meantime.....no one seemed all that concerned. In fact, they seemed downright rude about the whole situation. Like I was commiting a felony for being involved in a swap, instead of spending another $100 to rent one of their refrigerators.
It was crowded. Sooooo crowded. Have gone this time of year several times in the past and it was nothing like this time. Guess we are gonna have to find a new time to visit.
Rides were breaking down all the time. My DH, sons and MIL spent 45 minutes stuck on the drop on Splash Mountain. Wanna guess who the biggest complainer was???? Also had ride break down on Buzz Lightear, POTC and on Haunted Mansion. What's up with that? Is this the new normal, or was it just bad luck?
And overall, people were just rude in general. The "Disney" magic that has been such an integral part of the experience in years past was just nowhere to be found this time.
To finish off the trip, we boarded the flight home and then sat 2 1/2 hours on a plane waiting for them to fix the radio system. It is so reassuring to see the maintenance people getting out a manual to see if they can find out how to fix it. Also, there were 5 other pilots/crew on the flight who were catching a connecting flight somewhere. All 5 of those abandoned ship and chose to find another flight. Not exactly what you want to see when there are maintenance problems.
I hate to say it, but this is the first time since our first visit to Disney that I'm not dreaming of another Disney vacation. Am I the only one who has had this experience?
I'm really not a complainer. I love all things Disney and am willing to overlook a lot. But this whole trip was a bust.
