Miscalculated dates..points heading for holding

I need to cancel the last day of my trip and when I called to do so today, I was told that I was 30 days from check in...not 31. I was waiting till the last minute for the airfare to go down so we could stay the extra day and counted the days wrong :( so, my bad for waiting until the last minute.

Now I need some advice.

Would you cancel and let the points go to holding, and possibly not be able to use them at all?

or just keep the room for the day? (I anticipate the ME will pick us up around 4pm)
This is killing me as I am usually right on top of these things and we don't have a huge contract so these 19 points are significant.

Any advice is much appreciated!
 
If you have a resort day on that last day, being able to use your room up until nearly 4 would be great!

If they go into holding, with your Use Year and your plans until those points expire in mind, can you use them later?

Like for me, with our Feb trip coming up, we're using borrowed points and we have a Feb UY, so we would have until 1/31/14 to use them. We would just have to book inside of that short time period allowed for points in Holding. Since that's nearly a year of being able to find a flight and a room, and since we love OKW and will probably love SSR, we have a strong chance of being able to use them.

Only you know when those points actually expire, and what sort of chance you will have to use the points, if they go into holding. if there's absolutely no chance at all, I personally would keep the night and just luxuriate in the use of "my" room until I go to meet the bus.
 
Sorry I should have included my use year and such!

We have an October use year and no other trips planned (gasp) :). Our APs expire in early March so this trip was to be our last hurrah until (hopefully) December 2013.
 

Keep the last day and enjoy not having to rush to get out by 11:00. It will be nice not to be homeless 11:00 - 4:00.
 
I agree...keep the room for the day...especially knowing that you won't be using the points.

1. Is there any chance the airfare could still go down and you could use that extra day? If so, it won't make any difference if you cancel today or 1 day prior to check in. You could let it play out some more and possible get your extra day.
2. How do you feel about renting points? You could cancel the last day and rent the points that are in holding. You might have to rent them at a discount, but you might be able to recover some of the loss. (Finding the right rental situation for just 19 points could be tricky, too.)
3. Or, you could keep the room and enjoy it 'til 4pm.
