Mirena

Okay...you got me a bit worried, or should I say PETRIFIED! Did you have a 6 week followup where they looked to see if the IUD was still positioned properly?

I had a follow up, can't remember if it was at 6 weeks or not but definately had one because I was having a hard time, not really a heavy period but some very uncomfortable cramping.

Has anyone on this thread had their Mirena for the full 5 years? I am at 4 years 7 months. I started having peroids again last month. That was the first time since I had the mirena put in.. Was just wondering if this was normal.. I got to the dr in feb. I hope to schedule an apt. at that time to have another put in. I am over the period thing already..

I am quickly approaching the 5 year mark here. I had mine inserted the second week of April 2006. I have actually not had a period in over 4 months which is odd because I was still spotting every 4-7 weeks to coincide with my 15 yr old DD's cycle. So I am having the opposite reaction.

I've had mine for 4 years 1 month.

No periods, but I did have spotting (for less than one day) in Nov and Dec when DD12 had her period (didn't happen this month). :confused3

I'm actually planning to get mine taken out. I'm seeing an endocrinologist and having a lot of hormone testing done, but most of my issues can be Mirena side effects and I've only had them since I've had the Mirena. DH had a vasectomy in November, so even if the problems are not from the Mirena I won't need another one.

I am a bit worried about the periods though. I really haven't had any regularly in 7 1/2 years (two pregnancies/breastfeeding and the mirena). I know it's totally ridiculous, but I just have no idea what to expect my periods to be like anymore. (I used to have vomiting, cramping, and very heavy flow every month when I was younger.) I'll probably find myself trying to plan Disney trips around my cycle, which I haven't given any thought to in ages.
