They're called Hibiscus :)

I'm pleased to report that they are still all on, no chips or anything, just not as bright as they were which isn't bad considering they've spent two weeks in sandals, have been on a beach and in the sea

I will let you know how I get on with them when I want them removing or re-done :thumbsup2

I've had Minx done a couple of times and I can do them on myself aswell. On hands they really don't last too long, just because you do so much with your hands - say 5/6 days but they're a lot more long wearing on toes especially if you are wearing flip flops a lot because they don't rub the nails like other shoes might. Removal wise if you don't know what you're doing get them taken off professionally, if not heating them with a Minx lamp or hairdryer is a good option.

I have to agree with those who have raved over Shellac. It's the most awesome stuff! I don't think I'll ever go back to wearing regular polish. In total curing all the layers takes about 6-7 minutes and they're rock solid, no more smudging your manicure. I've not had problems with chipping and they are SO glossy for a good 2-3 weeks. They're quite easy to soak off, easier than traditional gels and I've not had any problems with damage to my nails. I'm currently wearing Tutti Fruitti which is a very pretty shimmery hot pink - although at present Shellac doesn't have loads of colours they do have a lot of good staples and are constantly updating the line. I do my own Shellac but it seems to be a bit thing in salons now so I'm sure anyone that was looking to have it done could find somewhere local.

You can use Shellac topcoat to seal Minx aswell, if you cap the ends of the nail it can help stop the edges peeling in some cases.

Sorry for dragging this thread back up but I just booked my first Shellac mani/pedi for the 12th :thumbsup2 Meant to ask on the phone, but can anyone tell me roughly how long it should take?

Also bit of a funny question but I've never had my toes done before....should I be pre-preparing my feet beforehand? As in, hard skin gone, etc. etc. :rolleyes1 I'm not sure how that works!

Manicure and pedicure would be 30-45 minutes each so you at look at an hour and a half total time max I'd say. Most of that time is cutting/filing/prepping the nails. The Shellac itself is on quickly and total cure time is about 7 minutes per hand/foot.

In terms of doing anything before a pedicure I wouldn't, they will soak your feet and do all that kind of stuff for you. If you have any particularly bad areas of hard skin that you want to work on before you go then by all means do if it makes you feel happier but I don't worry too much. :thumbsup2

Hope you love the Shellac as much as I do, I'm currently wearing Gotcha which is a pretty pink but I think Tutti Fruitti is my favourite.

Thanks Natalie! I'm assuming about an hour as I've booked in at 7pm and the place closes at 8pm! I'm working right up until my holiday next week and it's the only time I could get.

I am definately planning on trying shellec for my next holiday, I have done Minx before, but I've heard so many people raving over shellac I've got to give it a whirl!

Minx update: the nails are definitely growing out now, each time I trim them, there is less silver loveliness.;) The Minx nails came off my 2 smaller toes yesterday but I think I got my money's worth. My nails underneath are not damaged in any way.

A minx update from me too. I had mine on for 6 weeks, and I noticed this morning that on one of my small toe nails that the minx was starting to peel back a bit, so I peeled it back, and then peeled all the other ones off, and my toes aren't damaged either. I will definitely have them done for Christmas and my next holiday too (whenever that is :) )
