Mint Juleps

So I keep reading about all these people who LOVE the Mint Juleps at Disneyland. But I'm wondering ... if you've had the Mint Juleps at Disneyland, have you ever had a real, honest-to-goodness Mint Julep, and if so, did you like it?

I actually like an authentic Mint Julep ... but an authentic Mint Julep is not a drink for the faint of heart! It's mainly bourbon on the rocks with just a LITTLE simple syrup thrown in and real mint, with lots of mint near your nose to smell while you drink. It's not sweet at all. I can't help but think a non-alcoholic version would be very sweet and very dreadful, since the taste of bourbon really can't be reproduced without alcohol. I've been afraid to try one.

Opinions?

Aha! Thank you:-)
I thought I was crazy.
I honestly thought it tasted like mouthwash and jokingly but almost seriously thought I was pranked..
I painfully tried to finish it but couldn't, lol.
What you mention with bourbon sounds much better...
Makes so much more sense now!!!

My daughter's Louisiana Lemonade was fantastic though at the Blue Bayou.

The two share a name and the presence of mint, but that's about it. If you equate a "very sweet" mint julep with the word "dreadful," it will likely not make you happy. I'm a mint julep fan myself and tried one on our recent trip. It was OK (although very sweet), but nothing like the real mccoy.
