If it's so minor, why post, you ask? Because this is the DIS and I can ;)

I needed a lighter that's easy to operate. I ran* into CVS and told the cashier what I need - these are behind the counter now.
She took a sealed package of Bic lighters off the shelf.
I pointed to a display of unpackaged lighters and asked to try one of those (trying to keep this quick, there's a line).
She handed me the lighter, I flicked it, it worked, I said I'd take it.
She didn't want to sell it to me. Why?
Each lighter had a zodiac sign and she hadn't confirmed this lighter was "my" sign.

*if you know me, 'ran' = hobbled :teeth:

She was just trying to be helpful---Oh, the dangers that could befall you if you used a product with the wrong zodiac sign are legendary! Google "wrong zodiac sign on lighters, t-shirts, mugs, and other products" and find out.

ok, 2 things
1. You should be grateful she was so concerned about your zodiac compatibility
2. Maybe a sign you should not be smoking

If the clerk was really that concerned, she would have asked your zodiac sign before handing you a lighter to test. She blew it from the beginning! And just to tick her off further, I would have gone and picked a personalized mug and a keychain with the wrong names on them and forced her to ring those up for me too!:lmao:

Jackemail leads a sheltered life, BCDisneyFanatic ;)

It's not a 'profession' in the sense one would (dare to) list it on an income tax form; for that matter, any such professional wouldn't/shouldn't expect to get paid in any form of traceable tender or to get a W-2 or 1099 at the end of the year :rotfl2:

Nah, Pumbaa's right - I shouldn't be smoking. All those other lighters that are too hard to operate should be a sign, but I don't believe in signs... except "STOP" - and that's only in relation to traffic ;)

Obviously you don't believe in signs...otherwise you would have been thanking the cashier for looking after your zodiacal karma instead of posting this vent!!!

I would of gone with the Bics right off the bat. Anytime i buy others they crap out fast.

Too bizarre though. It reminds me of a christmas wrap trip to Kmart where there was a mexcan guy in a poncho, sombreo and had a parrot with him and I believe what was a mandolin. I was like self did you just see what you thought you saw?

Many years ago in New York I had an uncle who knew two professional arsonists. Their street names were Marvin The Torch and Benny The Bug.

And I never inquired about their Income Tax Returns, but it would have been interesting to do them. And you do not have to disclose the nature of your business on a tax return if it could incriminate you, you only have to declare the income and related business expenses.
