We went to the Fort late yesterday afternoon to ride bikes. Like TCD said on a previous post, 1700 & 1900 loops are basically closed. There are maybe 7-8 families in the first few sites of 1700, and none on 1900. As TCD said, they are remodeling the comfort station between 1700 & 1900. They have also paved the main road that feeds these 4 loops and have re-paved & widened the road on 1900. What amazes me is that the asphalt goes right up to site markers, trash cans and recycle stations on 1900. I can see some serious trouble ahead where people will rip their RV's on these items while going around the curves. If I were in charge of that little project, those items would have been moved back.

They are also renovating the coquina pads on some of the sites in 1900. The lumber they were using didn't look like it was pressure treated (you know - the lumber with the greenish color) but I understand a new P.T. chemical is being used which leaves the lumber looking its more natural color.

Also - Best Friends Pet Kennel has a lot of the cement block exterior wall up. The C.B. work usually moves quickly, though. We'll have to wait and see if it's finished by late summer. I'm having my doubts though.

We were one of the campers in the 1700 loop this weekend. I had requested it and they gave it to me. When we got to our site we realized that there was one other camper there (and they have been there a long time, the one with the Mickey Ears on top of his golf cart) We called and asked to change our site from 1705 to 1704 and they told me they couldn't put us in the 1700 loop because there was no bathroom. I told them that I didn't need the bathrooms, but we WERE in the 1700 loop that they put us in, sometimes I wonder about the CM's. Well they had to asked someone and when they got back on the phone they said we could have 1704 because we didn't need the bathrooms. I guess they thought 1705 was in the 1800 loop!!!!!!!!
Also to me 1900 looked even worse that is's been, never want that loop, but let's keep that a secret.

Crap, Lorna!!! I'm going to have to pay closer attention to what your RV looks like!

As for me - I'm going to sing the praises of the 1900 loop as often as I can so everyone will ask for it!! (Maybe that will leave a site or two open on 1700 or 1800 for us! LOL)

Deb- Good post. Thanks for the update. I know you know how to post photos. Bring your camera next time! I saw them just getting started on the paving last week, and it looked like they were going to widen the 1900 loop, but I don't know why they would have widened it as much as you say. All the way to the site markers? Crazy! I'd love to see a photo of that.

And I agree with you about the new kennel. Concrete block does go up fast. If would imagine that a kennel is easier to finish than a home or office building, but they just don't seem to be working real hard on this project. I am sure if they wanted to, they could have this done in no time. Publix just knocked down an old store and built a brand new one near me in what seemed like about three months. But, they were working on that project seven days a week, all day. The kennel project does not seem to be getting that kind of attention.
