So one of my DD's birhtday is a few weeks away. I just asked her what kind of birthday cake she wants and she told me she want a Minnie Mouse cake. I thought I would get a Wilton cake pan but all Mickeys and Minnies are retired. ANyone have any ideas or cake patterns for a Minnie Mouse cake?

I'm certainly no professional by any means, but would a round cake pan work. The "ears" could be baked in either a smaller round pan or ceramic rammekins, then trimmed to fit the circle portion forming the ears. Once it's all frosted it wouldn't be noticeable I wouldn't think. Also have you tried Ebay for the pan. They sometimes show up on there.

That is really good. I second the motion for larger pan with two smaller sized pans to create the base. Then use a a loaf pan and cut out the ribbon for Minnie's hair.

This is a cheater cake! But it did the trick! Regular cake with a picture of Minnie that I cut off of the back of a coloring book and then I added a a sprinkle of extra special jimmies!! :thumbsup2

That's a good idea but you could also just buy a new hair bow and place it on the cake instead of making a loaf cake and cut it.

If you go to google images and type in Minnie Mouse Cake, some REALLY cute designs come up. One is a two tiered round cake covered in red fondant and white polka dots, then on the top of the cake, they've scuplted ears and a bow for minnie out of eiter gum paste or fondant-- someone even made cupcakes to go with the cake that have little fondant ears and a bow on them-- they aren't Minnie's face, but they are ADORABLE! Here's the link to the cake and the little cupcakes: http://images.google.com/imgres?imgurl=http://farm4.static.flickr.com/3249/3018281985_cf4f44a144.jpg&imgrefurl=http://www.flickr.com/photos/thesweettoothfairy/3018281985/&usg=__HyZ4f1l6QL3960_tYGOKxWhbHRY=&h=446&w=500&sz=188&hl=en&start=2&tbnid=wW45hyj3HlzPQM:&tbnh=116&tbnw=130&prev=/images%3Fq%3DMinnie%2Bmouse%2Bcake%26gbv%3D2%26hl%3Den

I'm working with fondant for the first time this year for my boys' birthday cakes, and it's really not that hard to make or work with. Good luck with whatever you decide! --Katie

Those are adorable!! Thank you for t he links!!!!

If it were me doing it - I'd do a two tiered square cake with red fondant (or red icing if your scared of fondant!) and black polka dots. Or you could do three round ones for the MM look!

My kid's favorite cakes were always when I made a plain cake (in appropriate theme colors) and just put toys or figurines on top. They got to keep the cake toppers and were happy!

I do admire everyone else's creativity though!

I bought my mickey pan on ebay a few yrs. ago. You can also bake & ice a sheet cake then tear out a coloring book page of minnie-outline the page with piping gel or icing, turn it over on the cake then out line the gel in black & fill in your colors. Of course the image will be reversed but it works.

I just did a Mickey cake for my son's birthday. I did two round cake pans. I used a smaller bowl to "cut" the ears out of the second cake layer and just used icing to attach the two smaller circles (ears) to the other layer. Very easy!

We did a Mickey and Minnie theme for our boy/girl twins' 2nd birthday. I used a 9" round pan for the head and two 4" cakes for the ears, trimmed slightly so they would fit against the head. For minnie's bow I just piped a ton of red frosting!
Each of the twins gets their own cake to eat what they want. For everyone else, I made chocolate cupcakes with chocolate frosting. Then I took the mini-oreo's and peeled them apart so there wasn't any white filling. I tucked two of them into each cupcake to look like ears. Then I piped red frosting to make a bow on some of the cupcakes and made the rest just Mickey.
It was the best kids party I have ever done! It was so fun and really easy to find decorations and things.
My friend is a huge Disney fan and goes to WDW a few times a year. She has a Minnie Mouse costume that she wore to surprise the kids. She had a Mickey costume that fit my DS9 and they were the hit of the party!

Good luck- I'm sure it will be a fantastic party even if you serve HoHo's !! :rotfl2:

I love the Minnie Mouse cupcakes that ekatiel linked to! They are adorable.
I think a two tiered cake for the birthday girl and those cupcakes for everyone else would be darling!

I'm posting a pic of the cake I made my son, in case someone wants to use it. He wanted all of the characters. The pic only shows it with the mickey candle but I bought the figurines of all the characters and ds put them where he wanted them. (and now has the figurines to play with)

I got this idea from googling. It's two 13x9 cakes with buttercream icing. Clubhouse is cake covered in fondant.
Foot is rice krispie treats covered in fondant.
Head is styrofoam covered in fondant.
Trees are pretzel sticks, a hard fondant top w/ buttercream leaves.
Fence and path are also fondant.
Mickey heads piped on fence with buttercream.
Tootles is behind the clubhouse..made of fondant.

It was an easier cake to make than I imagined. The hardest part was making the "foot".
