Minnie Marathon - Official Check-in

I'm doing the Minnie too. Don't tell anyone yet. It's my first ever solo trip! :woohoo:

:wizard:

I've done nearly all of my training alone except for the folks I check in with here. How's your plantar fasciitis? I just got orthotics...I haven't been able to get rid of the problem so I'm hoping this is the magic cure :wizard:

I haven't been officially diagnosed--but I use this foot wheel thingy and it helps to massage out the PF. It is quite effective and one of its claims is that it helps patients with PF.

No Minnie for me--it is just after my post-partum recovery period...so I will have to bow out again for this year.:guilty:

Does anyone have the link/website for the Minnie? I want to read the info, but the 5k is sounding interesting......

TIA!

Thanks blueroses - I could only find the info on last years race.

Ok - now for a dumb ? - how many miles is in a 5k? I'm thinking 3, but not sure. Can anyone help?

Also, is anyone planning on doing a run/walk or is everyone running?

Is there an AP discount for the Minnie 15K? I remember getting a discount last year but I haven't seen any info on it for this year yet. :confused3

A 5k is 3.1 miles. The 15k would be 9.3 miles.

Ok -I'm in for the 5k!! I'm just waiting to hear from a good friend of mine to see if she wants to be my teammate, if not it's just me.....but my goal has been set!

Is there any males doing this race? I was hoping to do this with DD but she doesn't want to miss 3 days of school.....weird I know..... So DH is officially coming with me. Any others???

Kim

Ya good news, DD is willnig to take the 3 days off so it is a mother daughter weekend.

So excited. Anyone else going with there daughters, mine will be 14 she is thinking she will be the only teen there.

Kim

Ya I am very excited 1 to do the race and 2 to have a mother - daughter weekend it will be alot of fun.

Kim

Hey there Minnie people.

There are some codes for packages out there right now, I just booked myself and DD, 4 nights at a value resort, 4 day park hoppers that include water parks and Disney quest, and dining it was only $1191.00.

What has me worried is eating at all those restaurants and try to do the 15K. I guess I just have to make sure I eat light.

Kim

I have been so inspired by all of the marathin reports, so please count me in. I am a complete and total novice, and I need to lose some weight, but I'm going to do this. Eventhough I have no idea what all "this" means. I have ordered MFM that I've *heard* ya'll talking about.

Since I've never been a runner (even when I was in shape), I'm leaning toward the 5K. I would like to go for the 1/2 next January.

Look forward to getting to know ya'll better.

Hey Minigirl, Welcome!!!!!

Congrats for signing up. This will be my first race and deciding on what to do in January. DD and I are doing the 15K, very excited, this is our first mother daughter only vacation. Going to be alot of fun.

There are alot of people on the weekly thread that are doing the Minnie and already signed up for January. They are all awesome people there and can answer any questions you might have as you train.

Look forward to getting to know you as well.

Kim
