So we are taking my 7 year old daughter to Disney at the end of August for the first time we are going to be using the standard Dining plan

we pretty much have 5 out of the 6 TS meals planned out this is what we plan on doing

AK Tusker house
EPC Askerhus(B)
MK Crystal Palace
poly Ohana(B)

these are definite along with doing

HS Hollywood & Vine (B) The one reason we are doing H&V for (B) is for Disney JR as they do Disney JR for breakfast if they did D JR for lunch at least then we would do lunch for D JR then do Cape may for Breakfast my Daughter really wants to eat with Minnie as well so here in lies my dilema

the only 3 meals that I know of that includes Minnie are

cape may probably the best of the bunch but breakfast only
Chef mickeys
H&V

with already doing 3 breakfast's and not really being big breakfast people as it is I would really not want to do 4 breakfasts so it comes down to Hollywood & vine or chef mickeys to dine with Minnie

the reviews on both are luke warm at best but to dine with Minnie this is kind of what we are left with.

Ohana & H&V (Disney JR) are musts along with Akerhus we think Breakfast would be more palatable than Lunch here thats why we are doing breakfast vs lunch so there are my 3 breakfast's there is only so much breakfast's we can eat so going with Cape may's might be pushing it unless we pay out of pocket for the cheapest of the bunch then use that last table credit for something else which is an option but we are going to be spending so much as it is I would rather use the plan to its fullest.

So basically if you had to choose one for a dining experience for a 7 year old girl which would you choose Chef mickeys or H&V of course any other suggestions or ideas would be greatly appreciated.

thank-you

We did dinner at Chef Mickey's last night and we absolutely loved it. I was worried about the reviews as well but it was great and we would do it again.

Plus Minnie looks super cute at Chef Mickey's.

Would you consider going to Tusker House or Crystal Palace for lunch/ dinner and instead going to Cape May for breakfast?

ETA: if not, my choice between H&V or Chef Mickey is hands-down Chef Mickey.

we are doing both Tusker and crystal palace for lunch & dinner already,no choice in Ohana,H&V (for Disney JR) & Askerhus so from what you guys are saying between chef mickeys & H&V for lunch Chef Mickeys is the clear cut choice here

thank-you

After they switched over to Minnie's hollywood dine at lunchtime, the food is much better at H&V than Chef Mickeys in my opinion. We also felt the character interactions were better/less rushed than at Chef Mickeys. I think it largely depends on your itinerary though. If you are trying to plan lunch on an MK day do Chef Mickey's and if you are trying to plan on an Epcot or Hollywood Studios day do H&V. I wouldn't want to lose a bunch of time getting to lunch from another park.

Have you thought about a late breakfast at Cape May? Looks like breakfast goes until 11am, but it's not like things shut down right at 11. We once had a 10:45 there and we got plenty of food and saw all of the characters.

If not, I wouldn't go too heavily on reviews. We've found all character meals to be inconsistent and opinions to be totally subjective. Example: we've tried Tusker twice and thought it was horrible, but I know others who loved it. Flip side- we enjoyed our breakfast at H&V, but know so many who think it's vile. So, I think you're best going for whatever one works the best for your character wishes and schedule.

This is probably the best approach see what fits best into our schedule and what characters are most important, having 3 breakfasts already it was more along the lines of changing up the food versus eating time if Minnie did cape may lunch that would make it easier.

We'll figure it out thanks for all of your opinions and input

We did the Minnie lunch (also for Minnie reasons) at H&V and absolutely all had a blast (actually my avatar is from that lunch!). I was worried about the buffet with the reviews and we were traveling with my SIL who hates buffets, but not only was it a really nice character experience even my buffet-hating SIL was happy with her lunch and impressed with the food and service. I've never done Chef Mickey's so I can't speak to which is better but the H&V lunch didn't disappoint.

Thank-you that helps to hear from someone whos been to lunch at H&V being in HS already and only doing HS one day it does make sense to do H&V for A late lunch/early Diner we don't need to star booking till the end of the month will talk it over as usual with the wife and see what works best for us.

Thank-you

Would swap Tusker House to lunch (great food and great character interaction) and do a breakfast at Cape May - one of the best breakfasts around - did it twice on last visit.

Cornish we are doing Lunch at Tusker Already, would love to do Cape may but we already have 3 breakfasts that we don't want to switch off of we could probably still do A cape may Breakfast it would have to be on Wed or Thurs then fill in with a QS when we do HS on Sun Wed & Thurs will both be MK days

these are our (B)

Akerhus
Ohana
H&V

these are our L/D

Crystal Palace
Tusker House
H&V ? Chef Mickeys ?

Oops - not reading your post correctly - sorry about that! Of your two choices we would probably opt for Chef Mickeys unless we were already at HS for the day then H&V would get it as it would be much easier to do with the family instead of leaving the park to go to the Contemporary. Whichever way you choose - enjoy!:smickey:

So still tossing around H&V vs Chef Mickeys and kind of leaning towards chef Mickeys to fill in a time slot we will be in HS on 8/25 & doing breakfast at HV with Disney Jr we are doing Epcot for most of the day before heading to the mnsshp on the 27th so my Disney planner suggested doing chef mickeys before heading to MK for the party I was going to use a QS credit here but I was thinking of maybe using a QS on 8/25 instead we will be heading back to HS at night for fantasmic but I don't want to feel rushed to get back there for a reservation especially being we can't see spending the whole day at HS maybe taking a break mid day and going back in the evening for fantasmic.

I know I picked two of the character meals with some of the worst reviews if it were just my wife & I it would be sit down for most if not all of the trip but this trip is all about our little girl so the character experience is the most important yeah the food is important but with my wife on a light meal plan I am paying a set price for her anyway on the ddp me I'm not picky in the least neither is my daughter so it's more about the characters, experience and to a degree convenience.

As noted by my wonderful Disney TA doing chef mickeys before heading to the party at MK makes a lot of sense for a lot of different reasons
