Minne Marathon Team List

:yay: , Liz!! How's your pace? Minnie has that dreaded 15 minute pace requirement.... :dance3:

:yay: , Liz!! How's your pace? Minnie has that dreaded 15 minute pace requirement.... :dance3:

Last 2 have been at 16 min pace. Know I have to pick it up. Been having shin pain that slows me down but Sat managed to change stride and it eased up plus picked up a bit. Have to find that stride early on and think I'll be at the 15.

Liz, no worries, kiddo! I'm not there yet, either!! But we've got eight weeks. Don't forget to STRETCH those shins!! Now, go sign up!! :goodvibes

Hey Team!!! I will be at Minnie, but not at the WDW for very long. Depending on where the meet is and when, I will let you know if I can attend. Are we looking for something outside of the parks?? If so, I think POP works well. POFQ has a nice food court, but it isn't as big as POP. If the meet was at Boardwalk, I may be able to pop in for a quicky meet. I have always wanted to go to Flower Festival in Epcot and now I have 2 days to do it. I think I will be spending most of my time there!! :lmao: DH is already pre-warned (and we are kid-less for the weekend).

We have plans to do Magic Kingdom after the race then we have dinner ressies at the Grand Floridian for dinner at 6:10. Whatever is decided is fine. I will try to make it by for a quick hello...

The Boardwalk bakery might work well for my sister (larry's girl) as they are eating at Flying Fish at 6:30...

Stacie

Mel, glad you feel well enough to post!!
EoS is certainly more convenient for everyone, but I really think we need a bigger space!

POFQ's food court looks similar to Pop Century.

SSR's Artist Palette looks a little small, though. http://www.wdwinfo.com/Photos/Saratoga-Springs/pages/Artists-Palette_02.htm

What about the Bakery at the Boardwalk? I know that's our traditional Monday after Marathon Weekend meeting place, but they do have drinks and sandwiches. There are other kiosks around the area, also. Oh, but there isn't a lot of seating, right?

Come on, folks, chime in! We've only got eight weeks to go!! :goodvibes

Not to throw a wrench in the planning, but what about the food court at Riverside? I seem to remember that sucker being HUGE... would have plenty of room for us, I think. POFQ's is considerably smaller.

Pop Century is always a good spot to.... although do we really want to inflict ourselves on them twice in one year?? :rotfl:

Anywhere works for me... so long as I know where it is, I'll be there.

Kevin :earsboy:

I'm not so sure about Boardwalk Bakery. There's much less seating there than EOS.

I like POFQ and POR, but I think POR might be better for a big group. And we could always walk over to POFQ if we have a hankerin' for beignets. I'll post up a poll to help...anyone have any other suggestions?

Ok, I just signed up for the 15K! :yay:
Going to have to step up the pace now and get it in gear!
Will let you know where I'm staying after I check on AP rates tonight.

As much as John and I would love to join you guys for dinner, I don't think it will be possible. My daughter will be bringing someone who may very well end up being our future SIL, and I'm thinking a WISH meet might not be the best place to get to know him! We only have 3 days together so we're going to try to do whatever we can together with them. But we'll be with you in spirit....:thumbsup2

I agree about seating at Boardwalk, Mel..just wanted some INPUT!!:lmao: Judy has stayed at POFQ, she should be able to tell us about the food court.

Kevin, I only had the pictures in those reports to go by. Whichever one is bigger is great. :thumbsup2

Somebody else remember how big POR, POFQ food areas are? :confused3

He'll just have to get to know us all eventually anyway...I mean, we're all cousins here ;)

Seating wise, POR is much bigger than POFQ. The resort is bigger too from what I remember. I would say that POR is probably close to the size of Pop.

Escape: I hope you get some pixie dust for a good arifare.:wizard: I'm hoping for a great airfare to California so I can do the DL Half Marathon in August.

Liz: Isn't funny how everyone just gets you to go for it?? I did the same thing. I'm a walker, so let me tell you ---- YOU CAN DO IT!!!:thumbsup2

I voted for POR, it is big and the group could probably meet over in a corner and not disturb the others too much.

I just found out today that I will be getting that Friday off, so I will drive up on Friday morning. I will probably be over at the WWOS expo on Friday after I get there. Will be going over the EPCOT on Friday night to see the fireworks since I missed them in January. We went to EPCOT Saturday night to see them and it was raining, so we got back on the Monorail and went back over to the Poly to watch the MK fireworks from the conceirge lounge. Illuminations is my very favorite fireworks :yay: and I love to watch them from the section just as you enter WS between the two stores on the slanted concrete area.

Sorry I could just go on and on.

I have a 5k judged racewalk this sat, then I start training for the 15K!!

Tracy

MEL!!!
Anne...sorry, didn't mean to sound snotty
Oh, my word... you really ARE sick!! YOU worried about sounding unkind??!! I can't see that ever happening, my friend!!

Thanks so much for the additional input Bill and Tracy. I have not been to either place, so it is MUCH appreciated!! POR sounds good!

Jeanne, we really don't have dinner..It's more like a "Meet and Greet". Everyone chit chats for a bit matching faces to screen names, we take a picture, then those who have dinner ressies are off, others head for the parks, others stay and eat...just like Pop! ;)

Hey, anyone want to volunteer to bring name tags?

I can bring the name tags since I have some left over from an event last year at our homeowners assoc. Just a bunch of blank ones and a couple of Sharpies, right?

I may not make the meet on Saturday, but I'll be sure to find you guys at the start of both the 5K and the 15K!

Question regarding Sunday morning - is there a specific location that you all meet up before hand? I know it's smaller than the marathon so wasn't sure if there is a specific "tent" or anything for the Minnie.

Oh Mel - I hope it's not menengitis, which I am pretty sure I can't spell!

Anne - I've stayed at POR but walked over to eat at POFQ and I agree that POR is much bigger. So I'll go vote for it.

I'm starting to get excited about the race, but I sure do wish I could muster up some enthusiasm for training. More bad weather this Saturday. :headache: I don't know that I'll ever get outside for a L/R!

Liz, sounds great! Thank you! :thumbsup2

Tink06 With our bright green shirts, you should have no problem spotting the group! We just congregate somewhere in the parking lot before meandering to our respective starting areas. The last two years, it was self seeding, so there are no corrals to worry about. ::MinnieMo

Leana, you better find us! I'll not see you until the end otherwise..you speedy woman!! :car:
