Minimum stay to get a bounceback offer?

I may have a couple quiet days in May, so I'm considering using points to do a quick 1-2 night budget trip to pick up an annual pass.

My wife would like to take a fancier trip in the next six months or so. Is there a minimum number of nights I would need to stay on property now to potentially get an bounceback offer to save later?

Thanks!

Is it still just a tent card on your resort room table?

Long gone.

Supposed to be in the middle of a "be our guest" themed packet of info that doesn't look like it will have ANY info (that a repeat guest) would need. If that's in your room, look at it.

But if it's not, there's a number to call from your room that gets you to the bounceback people. A very recent thread here, like in the last few days, will yield that phone number.

I was thinking of a similar plan...a quick trip in January with a 1-2 night stay and getting a BB offer. But...is the BB offer retroactive to a reservation I've already made for May 2018? Or does it have to be a new reservation? Also is the typical BB offer better than the usual AP or general public offer for deluxe? No guarantees, I know.

Those are good questions! I figure worst case scenario, I'll have an active annual pass to make plans with some kind of discount later. Best case, I get a better discount from a bounceback.

We made our Poly reservation (September 2017) before even arriving @ the Contemporary (November 2016) and they applied the discount to our upcoming Poly trip. I believe the room/resort has to be available though as if you didn't already have an existing reservation (feel free to correct me if I'm wrong). We felt we got a great BB (30% room only).

You are 100% correct.

So just thinking out loud...but in looking at MouseSavers list of historical WDW discounts, it looks like AP discounts were released in late December or early January for the dates of our stay in May. It seems I would be better off watching out for those at the end of this year since I won't be at WDW until mid-late January at which time I'd get a BB offer.

if a discount is released online then IMO I would book that irregardless. If you get to the resort and the BB offer is either free dining or room only discount, I would compare what you're saving for the online discount vs. the room only discount and ask them to change the discount code. But again, keep in mind if you book a room you're technically taking it out of inventory and you may not be able to book it via BB.

Yes, I know:) But we are set on Poly CL and need 3 rooms so I didn't want to take a chance of no availability if I wait for the discount and somehow miss it right when it's offered.

that's where we're staying in September, I know that anxious feeling. Have fun!

I've never really understood the details of the bounceback. If I'm staying May 2017 can I reserve a bounceback for May 2018 or does the bounceback only work for an earlier return trip?

It's always been my experience was that the bounceback offer was for specific time periods and even specific resorts ..
But it's been a bit since I've done one.
