The minimum height requirements have me concerned about my daughter. She is only 5 and under 48 inches tall. My son is 8 and over 48 inches tall. I know there are a million things to do at DisneyWorld for all ages but you can't be everywhere all at once. Do you just try to divide up the time evenly for example spend half a day on things for the older/taller child and then half a day doing things for the younger/smaller child? I'm just not sure what people do in that situation because I can see it now...my son will want to spend ALL his time on things that my daughter can't do. Would it be wise to divide the days in half for each child or do some parents split up and take one child one way and the other child another way and meet later???? I'm just not sure what is best. I guess I'm looking for help from ALL you experienced Disney people out there. We have never been so you know where I'm coming from.

I am taking a 5 year old in May. She too is 5 and under 48 inches.
She is 44 inches with her shoes on. So far the only rides I found she can't go on are:
MK: none
AK: Primeval Whirl
MGM : RockNRoller Coaster
EPCOT: none
Of all the rides in the parks, that's not too many she can't do. Hopefully your DD is at least 44 inches.
I think if you just take DD on rides she can do, while big brother rides ones she can't, you won't have to split up for half a day at a time.

We usually just take turns.

Sometimes one parent goes on a ride with our 7 year old on the "48 inch" rides while the other parent takes our 4 year old on a "44 inches and under" ride.

The most we notice this and have a hard time is at MGM for RnR and ToT. Also at Epcot for MS.

We really don't have any problems at MK. Our 4 year old can go on most except I think Space Mountain or unless she just doesn't want to go on a ride.

At AK, the only issue is Primevil Whirl.

Unfortunately, there are just going to be times that our 4 year old does a lot of waiting. But our 7 year old went through the same thing when she was too young for some rides.

Thankfully, they'll both be able to go on all the rides they want to very soon!!!:teeth:

I wouldnt sweat it that much. Our kids are very far apart in age and there is still alot our younger one cant do. We just go through the parks and do things as we come to them, if one cant ride, we cruise a nearby gift shop.

One thing you can do to keep your older child's addrenalin addiction in check is to kid switch those rides. Since they dont make parents ride alone, he can do those rides twice.

One cast member told us last week that he had a family use Ice Cream sandwiches to try and add a few inches to their sons shoes. He said you could see the ice cream melting out of the shoes. He said he has seen it all...

ice cream sandwiches? I'm sorry - but what an idiot.

and really - I see alot of kids (especially little girls) with platform sneakers on or boots with heels to add to their height. But when they sit down - they are still short! god help them if they are too small to have the harnesses on the rides do any good!

I don't think this will be much of an issue for you unless you make it one. For us, my 3yo squeaked by at 40 inches in December and was able to ride almost everything. When she wasn't we would ride something near by for her while the rest of the crew went to do space mountain or whatever they were going to do. She had a blast and so did they.
