We are doing the 1900 Park Fair character dinner on 4/28. My dd 4 is a huge dessert fan and we would like to do something special for her. Since the dinner is a buffet that includes dessert, is it crazy to order a special dessert? Has anyone else done this?

I think it's a great idea. I am thinking of doing the same thing for my DD4 on our next trip. Plus we will be celebrating her 5th b-day.

Many DISers have done this including me!

I ordered the slipper and the cake for each of my 2 DDs and they arrived at the end of our meal with Suzie the mouse there to get all excited with us!

The cake was delicious!!

Just call the GF bakery to set it up. Let them know your PS time and date. I called about 48 hours before I believe.

Beattyfamily - thank you for including the pictures in your post. The desserts look almost too pretty to eat.

WOW! DH and I will be having dinner at the castle on the night of our anniversary. I would LOVE to surprise him with a mini wedding cake for dessert!! Does anyone know if they would deliver the mini wedding cake(s) to the castle? Any other restaurants? Or only the restaurants at the Grand Floridian? Thanks! And thanks for the pics!!! :)

P.S. The mini wedding cake looks like the size of a cupcake. Is it? Or is it bigger or smaller? Also, is it a serving size for 1 person or can it be shared? Thanks again :)

It is meant for one person. But I shared it with my DD.

They are exclusive to the GF bakery. They will not deliver them. You can, however, arrange to pick up the cakes.

I have heard of the Castle having the choc slipper but the last post I saw about it, the poster said she didn't have luck ordering it on the phone; but another poster a couple months ago did have success. To see if the slipper can be had at the Castle, call them directly.

Tell me how likely this is:

Since they wont deliver, I could eat dinner at Le Cellier for our anniversary (wife loves that place), and then go to GF and pick up a pre-ordered mini cake and then take it outside or someplace at the GF to sit down romantically and eat it? I know they dont like you sitting in restraunts for dessert only, so is my theory workable?

Not sure how you'd eat eat or where and what about utensils? Not sure but it's possible.

Also, other resorts with bakeries might be able to do something similar like the Boardwalk has a bakery for example. Just a thought for others wanting a cake like this...

beattyfamily,

Were you given a flavor choice for the cake? I don't think my dd will be a big fan of the white choc mousse, so we will probably go with the cake.

Yes, I was! I was overwhelmed with the choices but stuck with chocolate. I think there were 5 or 6 choices in flavors...

The slipper is RICH! My DD thought it was beautiful but didn't eat much of it. They especially didn't like the moose.

Thanks for that info :) Now I have another question: Did you have a choice of what was on top of the mini cake, or was the white chocolate castle the only option? Thanks again :)

P.S. If they won't deliver the mini cake outside of the GF, then maybe lunch at the GF is in order. I really love the idea of the mini wedding cake and I know DH would appreciate the thought and effort I put into surprising him on our anniversary :)

Well, I'll bet they have other options but I wouldn't know. I called specifically for the mini castle cake. When I first started ordering on the phone I did have to say I wanted the castle on top and I believe it's probbaly cheaper without it on top. I do not know what else they could put on top as I didn't ask.

Ok thanks! :)

I showed my dh the pictures from the thread and he thought the cake was adorable. We can't wait to order it for our dd.
