Mini-Van Rental from MCO and returning to Cape Canaveral

For the last few weeks I have been trying to get an 8 day minivan rental (October 29-November 6th) picking it up at either the airport or at Disney and returning to Cape Canaveral. They have all been over $600. I have used codes for Avis and Budget (which are the 2 most convenient at Cape Canaveral) but can't get anything under $600. Is is normal for this time of the year? I have 4 adults, 1 teen and 2 children so I need at least the minvan. Any help would be appreciated.

Try getting 2 intermediates. This might be a little cheaper.

Budget has Full Size SUV's (Ford Expeditions Which Deafinetly will seat 7) for $400. If you need a van that bad, I guess you have to pay the $600!

It sounds like you are going on the cruise. You might want to consider 2 shorter rentals. 1 on the 29th to get to the port (return it to Budget or Avis and use their shuttle to the port) and then pick up another van on your return and return it at MCO.

We are doing this the week before. We are actually coming in a little early for our cruise, so one rental is from Oct 19 (late night) -22 and the other is Oct 29-30 (we don't fly out until Sunday after the cruise). Even with the extra days, our 2 rentals come to $340 which is a lot better then $600. Since it doesn't look like you are planning extra days like we are, your's would probably be even less.

One hint for making things easier when you are returning the car to the port. Take you family and luggage to the port first and drop them off. The porters will take the luggage away and your family can start the checkin process. Then take the car back to Budget or Avis yourself. You will have a much easier time getting onto one of their shuttles to the port since you will be a single person with no luggage. You will need your ID to get into the port when you get there. If you family has managed to checkin already, you will only need to go up to the desk where they checked in and show them your ID to get your KTTW card and be all ready to go.

We will return the car before getting on the Wonder since we are taking Disney transfers back to the airport. I need a vehicle that seats 7. $600 is a small part of the cost of the vacation but when I see the great deals some people are getting, I figure I am doing something wrong.

Im not sure if you will get a better deal, but try bidding on Priceline. Just another idea.
