We were at VWL May 28 - June 6. Had the dreaded third floor "dumpster view" room at check-in - only room available when we checked in at 1:45 p.m. CM said no other studios except the one directly above on the fourth floor would be available that day. She did notice that we had a requested a first floor room, so she went off to the side to speak to someone and came back and offered to change us the next day for no fee and I gladly accepted! We ended up with room 1506 - right next to an exit and a quick walk to the bus stop! That room was so convenient and much better than the original room we had!
Bus service during our trip was great - I timed every bus we took and the longest wait we had was 18 minutes for a bus to AK/Blizzard Beach at around 2:30 in the afternoon. We used the buses a lot as we would go to a park in the morning, go back to the resort for a break, then head out again late afternoon and I'd say our average wait time was five minutes. I think we were lucky and got to the bus stops at the right times - I heard some people at the stops complaining about how lousy the transportation was to/from WL.
Had a few nice things happen for us: DS and I opened DHS one morning; at MK we were chosen First Family to ride Buzz Lightyear; at EPCOT DS was chosen to be "Pirate of the Day" and do the opening countdown at the turnstiles; and last but not least, we were able to be Flag Family at WL with the infamous Ranger Stan and his protege Ranger Don and we enjoyed a nice breakfast in the concierge lounge afterwards.
This was our first stay at VWL and it was nice to try it out but I really missed being at the Boardwalk, which is where we usually stay. We spent a lot of time at EPCOT and DHS this trip and it would have been nice to just walk over to the two parks whenever we felt like it. Had a great time though and planning already for next year!
