Mini Speed Boat Rentals

I know they have them at some of the resorts, and I can probably find the site that has the resorts that offer them. What I cannot find is the cost and if I need to make an advanced reservation for them? I assume they are readily available, so is there a best place to rent or does it not matter.

I recommend that you rent from any of the MK area Resorts.

You will have a much larger (and visually interesting) area to pilot and the Sea Raycers' regulators are set to go faster in those lakes.

That explains why the ones we rented at the CBR were so bloody slow... I thought they had just lowered the speed on all of them for insurance reasons or something... they certainly seemed slower than I remember from long ago.

Yeah and you don't have such a small space to navigate through if you rent from one of the MK resorts. I rented one for myself when I stayed at POR and had a blast BUT the lake area is fairly narrow, especially when one of the water taxis comes by and decides not to slow down and you get completely soaked in the wake! Yes that happened to me - ruined my cell phone, but it was ok because I had such a great time. I took it out for an hour all by myself and it was so relaxing.

The boats are definitely available at Poly and Y&BC. I think they are available at all the MK and Epcot resorts. The Seven Seas lagoon and Bay lake are larger than the area by the Epcot resorts so Those might be better places to rent them. The views of the castle are awsome and it's fun to cruise around the big boats waving to peoole. Prices are @$30 for half hour, $40 for 45 min and 45 for 60 min but Current Disney room packages throw in a voucher for 30 extra minutes when you buy 60 minutes. I don't think that its really an activity for an hour and a half though.

We rented from WL boat area and really had a good time with them. There may be some discounts offered for DVC or AP holders from time to time.

My DS 14 and niece rented them this past august at POR for an hour. They went to DTD and back and had fun. We were told they ARE slower than those at MK area but the teens thought they were fine.

In addition, we received a FREE coupon from The boat "people" (with our luggage tags, etc) for a free 30 minutes with the 1 hour rental but the kids wound up NOT doing it anyway. They forgot to BRING the coupon and they said NO WAY without coupon to show. It wasn't worth the extra effort so they skipped it.

We've managed to pilot all around Seven Seas Lagoon and Bay Lake (both at MK area) in 30 minutes.

It has more to do with the combination of minimum height AND minimum age.

I wouldn't worry too much the 4' 10" height of an adult.

If the CM's at the marina don't make a deal of it,
it should not be a problem.
