I just finished the inaugural Disney California Story tour at DCA. In a nutshell, it was just OK. Nothing much to write home about. The guide Devin was friendly, and seemed well-rehearsed. The big question people will ask is "is it worth $109" (or the discounted price that I paid)? In all honesty, I have to say NO.

Of course this tour is new, and they will probably want to edit it a bit. This reminded me of the Marceline to Magic Kingdom tour at WDW. Only it included lunch and a nice pin. There were a great deal of old Walt "facts" presented along the way, along with audio clips shared through the provided audio devices.

Rides did include RSR and Soarin', along with a drawing session at Animation Academy. There was a too brief stop inside the 1901 Lounge. It would have been nice to get to spend a few minutes looking at the items on display. And cameras were not allowed.

Lunch was at Fifer, Fiddler and Practical. We chose from the limited menu prior to the start of the tour. Starbucks beverages were NOT offered with the lunch.

All in all, this tour would be better without the lunch, and maybe an hour shorter, at half the price. I don't regret doing this tour, but I also can't recommend it to true fans. It's a bunch of information that any Walt Disney fan should already know.

My letter grade for this tour is: C+

As a follow-up, I took the Walk In Walt's Disneyland Footsteps tour after the DCA tour. I'll be posting both reviews on Trip Advisor after my vacation. But in a nutshell, this tour was very good. I went in knowing plenty of Disneyland history, so just like the other tour, much of the content was repetitive. But I still enjoyed this tour a while lot more than the other one.

Both tours are priced the same. This one is totally worth the $87 (discounted). But I would have easily paid full price as well.

Grade for this tour: A-

Thank you for your review. I'm going on it tomorrow, and my review will come out on this Thursday's podcast.

It does seem to be priced high, and I think that even with the lunch it should be priced lower. Walk in Walt's Footsteps included a stop in Club 33 lobby, and was priced a lot lower until they began including Walt's apartment.
