Hi all,

We have left BLT about 2 days ago--are now at Universal. I just wanted share with you our views...mind you, I haven't been able to browse the boards too much in advance, so if this is all repeated, so sorry!

First, the not so great--these are little things and I want everybody to keep in mind that we loved the place--will definitely stay there again, and had a wonderful time!

First, our door wouldn't close properly. Just want to state this as a safety precaution. You might think it latched, but it didn't, and it could be pulled wide open if you didn't realize it wasn't closed. We fixed it by pulling on it a few times until we really heard it click. We did report this upon check-out.

The lack of sheers was really bothering. Despite the little I have been online, I did read a bit about this. We were on the 10th floor in a MK view room. It got really hot in the afternoon hours. Unfortunately so much that we hardly ever used our patio. It also did bother me as far as privacy because we were very close to the CR rooms and monorail line (!)

The bathroom lighting in the master bath of a 1BR is really poor. It's a waste to try to put make-up on in there.

There were some really strange hoards of bugs in the evening at the front of the building, and inside the lobby in the evening. They looked like mosquitos, but I heard from somebody (who seemed to know???) that they were not. Regardless, there were thousands, really thousands of them, at least hundreds inside the lobby on the walls and ceilings. They did NOT approach humans or bite in any way. It seemed harmless, but was a little freaky. They were attracted to the lights I guess.

The monorail was down for about 24 hours while we were there. I have never heard of this before in any previous trips. Luckily at BLT, we can easily walk (it was approx 8 minutes for us--fairly brisk walkers). We were not able to dine at the GF that evening as we had no way to get there. Luckily, the Wave took us in, but it was iffy as it is free dining.

We were a tad disappointed with our MK view. In fact, I would call it a GF view. Once you walk into your beautiful villa, you expect to overlook the MK, but we pretty much overlooked the GF and monorail. We were in a room that if we were one more over, it probably would not be categorized as a MK view anymore. It was nice enough, but to see fireworks, you literally had to approach the window and lean over or lean over the balcony.

Frankly, next time we would book a standard of lake view. We could not enjoy our balcony for much of the day as it was too hot and sunny. The other view was much nicer. The MK is very very busy with a large parking lot, roads, trucks, etc. We did enjoy the lagoon off in the distance, the CR, GF, monorail and MK, but there's a lot out there in addition to all these nice things.

The ipod radios are nice, but I missed having AM radio on them.

The good - we just really loved being so close to MK...it was SO nice to walk there and take the monorail back...what a wonderful time saver it was for us!!!

The resort is just gorgeous. It's all new and very modern. I loved how we could park very very close and I did feel that we were very close to the CR for the amenities there (albeit we were in a room one away from the elevator nearest the walkway to the CR). The rooms are really well done--loved the showers, extra bathroom in teh 1BR and the sleeper chair. The tvs are wonderful.

The pool was nice and the 2 slides seemed to be a hit--our young DS (4) loved the little kiddie slide and the bigger slide was a hit too.

I hope this helps you in your planning! Good luck!

It amazes me that they did not put sheers on the balcony doors. What where they thinking??? Or I guess I should say that they were NOT thinking.

Glad you had a great trip!

I absolutely agree & brought up this same issue when we returned at the beginning of the month. IMO, even a small wall mounted make-up mirror (similar to what they have in CR) would be an improvement.

Given the time of year, are you sure they weren't love bugs? Not that I think love bugs look like mosquitos but that seems to make the most sense to me. They get everywhere but don't bite. Are really just annoying & unsightly.

Just for future reference, bell services will get you a taxi.

Glad you enjoyed your trip!

I totally agree! Trying to put on makeup was ridiculous.

I also agree about the missing sheers. Can't imagine why they decided not to put them in.

OP, I'm glad you enjoyed your stay, and I'm glad your post reminded me to email my comments to Member Satisfaction. ;)

Agree completely. We had a LV studio in the inside "C" of the crescent. We could CLEARLY see into the rooms across from us on the opposite side of the "C" - and I have very poor eyesight! The bartender from the Top of the World lounge said that they could tell lots of stories of the "things" that they have seen happening in the rooms. If you stay here, do not have any expectation of privacy unless your curtains are completely closed.

Sorry, but I am just not a pro at using quotes on these boards, but to answer you, the bugs were definitely not love bugs. I did see a handful of lovebugs here and there -- no big deal. These were the strangest things I have seen bug-wise at Disney. Honestly, they looked just like mosquitos--very thin and wispy...they just didn't pay any attention to us, so it seemed somewhat harmless, other than there were literally thousands of them on the walls and ceilings of the lobby (not the main lobby but the elevator lobby off to the south side of the building) although I imagine they were all throughout the resort lobbies. They seemed attracted to the lights in the cannister lights outside of BLT plus the lights in the lobby of course.

Also, thanks for the tip on a taxi to get our dinner ressie. When I walked up to the Wave to tell them that we had ressies at GF, they seemed very unimpressed, nor did anybody mention this taxi option to us. Oh well, we had a nice dinner and were glad that we got in. It was DEFINITELY nice to be able to walk to MK with the monorails down like that. I felt bad for the other resort guests (i.e. GF and Poly) as they couldn't get to the MK all that easily with the monorail down for approx 24 hrs. As we were leaving the MK for the evening, there were so many people still there...I just thought what a huge quagmore that would be getting out with only the ferries running to the parking lot!

Back on the sheers again...honestly, I saw a bit more than I wanted, just looking up at the resort from the parking lot!!!! Hopefully it is just a matter of time until they can install these much-needed sheers!!!!!
