My boys' elemenatry school held its own Relay for Life today. They did a great job, they had 6 different educational booths for all of the kids to go to and each grade had its own color t-shirts. They spent the day walking around the high school track and attending the differnt booths with their classes. They sold footprints (for the kids) and suns (for the survivors) for $1The kids had also been asked to bring change with them from home, and everytime they completed a lap they were to put some change in the bucket. Before counting all of the change that was donated today they had raised over $500.
The high schoolers who were helping out with the event, went inside during lunch and collected change from the kids at lunch to donate to the event, the raised an additional $89 for the relay.
This was such a great way for the kids to learn about how to help prevent cancer and to lean about giving to others.
