OK guys, I am making a baby book for my friend. It is her first child. She is having a boy. Both her and her husband are really into Halloween...they had a masquerade wedding, a Halloween party every year since and the baby is due right after Halloween. The due date is just coincidental, but works for them!!! They are hoping for a delivery about a week early!! Anyway, she is really into theming things. The other thing about them is that they are both very Italian. They baby's name is going to be Rocco...doesn't get much more Italian!!!! LOL Anyway, for the book, I was thinking about going with either Italian-looking or Halloween. I know she would love the Halloween much more. I don't want to make it super-scary looking since it's a baby book. Do you guys think mini monsters is the way to go? They look pretty cutesy in the pix I saw. Do any of you have it and can you speak from experience? And, another question I have is just for some suggestions for the pages. I have the basic ideas...just looking for some different, more creative ones!!!! :thumbsup2 I made one for my SIL a couple years ago, but forget what I did!! LOL Anyway, thanks for any help you can give!

When considering Mini Monsters, I would use it throughout the whole book. Each page maybe featuring a different monster?? And, I would maybe title the book something like "Our Little Monster" or something like that?? (Suggestions here are also welcome!!)

I have mini monsters. It is super cute.
The chunkier shaped ones will cut out nicely at 3-4", but the ones with thinner appendages would be need to be a little bigger.

The phrases have layers and shadows. I like that a lot.

You can do a search on the swap board for baby book. We have made lots of them here. The page ideas seem about the same through all of them.

I think it is really sweet that you are going to do this. :cloud9:

Thanks!! I was looking at the book online and saw several possibilities to use the phrases for page titles. Like there was one that said I Want My Mummy. That would be a cute mommy and me page. I also thought the cards would be good for hidden journaling. I think I am going to go with the basics for the pages and then add in some things specifically to Halloween...like 1st Halloween and 1st costume. But, I will check out some other ideas!!! Thanks! She is my best friend since 3rd grade and they tried for 3 years to get pregnant, so she really deserves this!!!

I think using mini monsters is a great idea! Very creative and if they love halloween, they will love it. If they are a little out there and appreciate the gross, maybe something like...

First major spit up
First Major diaper blow out (because you know new parents take pictures of it, they just don't talk about it!)

Do some sentimental pages like...

First time I felt like a parent
Watching you sleep

LOL Those are great!!! They may get those pix!!!!! There was another phrase on the cart that said "Bump in the Night"...I thought that may be good for a pregnancy picture of her! LOL

Such a cute idea! My girls are teens now, so no page ideas for you. I love the idea of a "not so generic" baby album ;)

Thanks!! The parents are not so generic so it fits them! My youngest is 6, so I am getting out of touch with the baby thing slowly!!!!!

This book will be treasured by them. Make sure you post photos of what you've done. I love the theme and can't wait to see what you come up with. We have a Halloween party each year for our sons/their friends. Here are a few page ideas.

Rocco's Crypt - photos of the nursery/their home
Handsome Devil - pics of baby Rocco
Monster Mash & Finger Foods - for a layout of his first foods (cereal, jarred foods, cheerios, etc.)

Wow!!!! Thanks so much! Those are great suggestions!!!!! I will definitely be using them!!!!!!!

I will post pix when I'm done! I am looking forward to doing it! I just went to the store and got some supplies. I am going to sketch ideas this weekend and make a shopping list for the rest of the supplies. Then, it is just a matter of banging the pages out! I only actually have like a month and a half to get it done!!! :scared1:

I thought of a few more.

Boo-tiful Baby (etc.)
Too Cute to Spook
Our lil' pumpkin
Something's Brewin' -could be a maternity page
On the prowl - for baby starting to crawl or walk

If you want to do a Family Tree type page & have a Cricut, cut out one of the spooky looking trees and add the places for them to write in baby's name, parents, grandparents, great-grandparents names, etc..

Hope I'm helping you some!

Those are great too!!!! Thanks so much! You are helping a ton! I love the idea about the tree. I was lookng at family tree paper today and thought that would be a nice thing to include, but it just didn't work with my theming!!! Now, I can work it in! Thanks for the suggestions and keep them coming!! I will have to give you some credit to my friend when I give her the book!!!!
