mini-dialogue: MK Planning with a Skeptic

I recently found this conversation that I'd jotted down before my Aug 2010 trip with my BF... he was a first timer and is a big Disney skeptic. This is pretty much a verbatim conversation that happened when I was trying to make a touring plan for the Magic Kingdom, so I thought some of you out there planning with skeptics may enjoy and relate to it...

me: So anything with roller coasters?
DBF: Is in.
me: What about water?
DBF: That's good too.
me: So roller coaster in the dark?
DBF: Yes.
me: Flume ride?
DBF: Sure.
me: What about Peter Pan?
DBF: ::looks suspiciously::
me: In the dark? You get your own little ship? And Peter Pan?
DBF: Definitely not.
me: Singing dolls from around the world?
DBF: No dolls, no multiculturalism.
me: Right, right. And flying Dumbo?
DBF: Huh?
me: You get to wait in line for 75 minutes and fly around in a circle in your own Dumbo elephant?
DBF: Uggghh you're KIDDING me.
me: Yes of course I was totally kidding you. But a carousel?
DBF: Yeah, a carousel is fine.
me: Teacup spinning rides?
DBF: Sure.
me: What about haunted houses?
DBF: Eugh. They're never scary.
me: What if the point is not to be scary? You get a doom buggy.
DBF: ::look of attrition::
me: Okay, jury's still out. What about Pirates of the Caribbean?
DBF: ::"come on, really?" look::
me: It's a water ride in the dark? There's a waterfall?
DBF: ::"ehhh" look::
me: The pirates do things like drink rum and chase women.
DBF: Okay, that sounds okay.
me: What about a Toy Story arcade game ride. You get to shoot things.
DBF: You mean I get a gun?
me: Well, not a real gun, a laser gun.
DBF: But its my own gun? Like, I get a score?
me: Yes.
DBF: And I can beat other people?
me: Yes.
DBF: Definitely. That's awesome.
me: Great! And anything with animals is okay?
DBF: Yes, as long as they're not robotic animals.
me: ::crosses off Jungle Cruise::

Ha! That's hilarious! Good luck with him! He sounds like a major skeptic.. you can turn him into a Disney lover though!
