mini bottles of wine

If you are worried about breakage there is always boxed wine same mLs. There are probably some decent ones out there.
Nah, it wasn't breakage I was worried about. It was just having a variety.

Either way:

The pretty blunt answer from DCL (for anyone finding this thread later): any size bottle counts as a bottle. If it is a 375ml dessert wine, 50ml sample, 750ml standard bottle; they are all one bottle.

I can tell you they don't practice what they preach.

Except for when they do. Yes, there are stories of people getting things through security that are not allowed by DCL. But people have also shared that their alcohol was confiscated.

DCL's policy is two bottles per adult, so when offering advice to cruisers, it is best to stick to the policy to avoid issues at port.

Some may not practice what they preach. It's up to the security officer doing the bag scan. Some may have a more loose interpretation of the policy and go by total volume, others may take the literally interpretation and only allow two bottles, regardless of size. Past experience of skirting a policy (whether intentionally or unintentionally) does not guarantee future success.

If it bothers you tell that to the security guards.

I wasn't giving advice. I was giving my experience. We're all adults here we can make our decisions and deal with whatever happens.

That doesn't bother me. I just don't want someone to read this board, think they can bring on multiple small bottles of wine, and then be told at port to dump them because the security person they get is taking a literal interpretation, because "well I read on DISBoards that someone else was able to do it" isn't a good enough argument. Everyone should assume they'll take the literal interpretation of the policy; if they want to take their chances on a different approach, they may get lucky. But it shouldn't be expected just because someone else got lucky.

Everyone can read the policy. read data points and make their own choices. No one is telling anyone what they can or cannot do.
I doubt anyone skimming through this thread has expectations of anything. If they do then that's on them.

Except, in this case, the written policy is a bit ambiguous. So, someone reached out to DCL to get a clarification/clearer interpretation. As we know, cast members sometimes get it wrong, but I'd still take that over random people's experiences. And, isn't the whole point of these boards to answer questions and set expectations?

I did answer the question and everyone is free to disregard my experience.

What do you suggest someone says to the security guard?

- DCL's policy says two bottles but I want to bring on more?
- Please don’t follow the policy and let me do what I want?
- I heard from someone else that it doesn’t matter, so I want to do what I want to do.

I understand that you say your experience has been different. But, when you share that, especially when it does not follow the policy, it sets up unrealistic expectations for others. Now, please feel free to disagree with me.

OP i think you would have gotten better feedback if you left off the (kinda irrelevant) part you were staying in the Roy suite. just a tip for any future questions you might have.
