Mine Train soft opening

Re: People ignoring fact that CM trading isn't until April 20 ...

I think many are questioning the validity of April 20 being the start of CM training considering it's only a week to go until the press days. My assumption is the ride needs to run flawlessly by the press days and April 20 would be way to late to start CM training and soft openings for park visitors.

A Disney rumor site claims some CM training will be April 20, but other CMs will be trained earlier. This seems more consistent with the other info about the press days. I have no clue whether this is how training for a new ride is typically done, but theoretically they wouldn't need all the CM training to be done when they start limited soft openings. Clearly, I will be at MK in early April and preferred to continue my wishful thinking. :)

We will be there May 2-10. As excited as I am about 7DMT potentially being open at that time, Im terrified of the crowd and line potential. Its definitely not ruining my good time but still a little concerned!

You laugh now, but I'd be surprised if there isn't at least one thread started on April 1st getting everyone excited about this ;)

Actually, I was planning on announcing on Apr 1 that 7DMT will formally open May 1 and close for refurbishment on May 30...

I believe they called it "Limited Time Magic"...

This.:thumbsup2

wdwnewstoday, who are very reliable, are reporting Some CMs have already been allowed to ride SDMT during their training.:)

Another SDMT CM reported their training begins April 13.

It looks like training is in "waves".

With an April 30 Media Event and a May 2 Dedication Event,I will believe SOs will begin in early April-seems like they have to to meet that schedule.:)

I reached out to a friend who is an Operations Learning and Development facilitator in Magic Kingdom. Training begins on April 13 with an assessment on April 20.

Edited to add:
Cast Members that were reported to have ridden the Seven Dwarfs Mine Train at this time are limited only to Fantasyland Leadership Team, select Magic Kingdom Operations & Learning Development Cast Members, operating participants employed by the construction team, select imagineers, and some members of the Magic Kingdom Executive and Leadership teams.

April 13, the first day of training, will be an orientation for Fantasyland. Cast Members that have not been trained for Magic Kingdom operations previously will also have a Magic Kingdom park orientation class, "Once Upon A Time... is Now."

Cast Members will four days of training over a six day period with two days off. There will be multiple facilitators and trainers, each with a small group. After those Cast Members finish their assessments on April 20, the attraction may or may not experience dress rehearsals. It will probably be a day of running the attraction and getting used to working as a team.

Training sessions will be longer than normal sessions in order to simulate alarms on the operating control panel so Cast Members will have real experience in case of intrusions, faulty sensors, evacuations, ride stops, guests with disabilities, etc.

I hope this helps some confusion.

Does that mean April 20th is the earliest possible date for soft opening?

Any update with the recent rumors of a late May opening?

Sweated out rates dropping at S/D, sweated out getting ADRs, sweated out getting FP+, now just waiting to see if we can ride SDMC or not.... :badpc:

What's a Disney plan if you can't sweat for 6 months? :rotfl:

Ugh. I know!

I just this instance moved all my FP+'s and double checked for Parade openings.

Who needs to feed your family? I'm late getting dinner started.

:lmao: So true, last Friday when I could finally link my S/D reservation to MDE and FP+ opened for off site I got home from work at 5:15 and was still going at it when DH came in the door at 6:30 with DS (who he had picked up at college to come home for the weekend)... DS deadpans..."are we eating at home or going out tonight Mom?" :rotfl: Of course I cooked him a homecooked meal AFTER all the FP+ were confirmed.;)

So we could have a soft opening of the mine train and Anna & Elsa moving to Fairy Tale Hall on the same day? Easter Sunday? That section of the park may be a little :crowded: :crowded: :crowded: .

yeap, its gonna be pretty busy!!

And I guess it will be for the foreseable future...

I'll be in the Magic Kingdom on April 24, which will be my last time there for a few years due to saving for a trip to Europe... What are the odds that I will get to ride this ride during a Soft Opening? Can someone explain to me how Soft Openings work?

I think your odds are "fairly" good.:)

During Soft Openings, the attraction may be open for a while, close for a while, etc. or it may be open all day or it may not open at all(not as likely).

About all you can do is "hang out" in the area and hope for the best.

Being friendly with the wonderful Cast Members can occasionally "mine" some information "jewels"(SDMT pun intended.lol:)).
