Mine Train soft opening

So I take everything a CM says with a grain of salt...
I was picking up my pre-ordered copy of Frozen today at my Disney Store here in Memphis (like so many other people).

Correct me if I am wrong, (and this being the Dis, many people will...:teacher:), but I thought that Disney divested itself of its regional Disney Stores and the employees there aren't really "Disney CMs". In the hierarchy of "employees in the know", I'd have to put a Disney Store employee in Memphis way, way below a bus driver. So proceed with caution.

So I take everything a CM says with a grain of salt like many other people here on the Dis when it comes to things like this. However, I do pass on information when I hear it if it sounds plausible.

I was picking up my pre-ordered copy of Frozen today at my Disney Store here in Memphis (like so many other people). As each customer checked out while I was there, they asked the customer if they had a trip planned soon. To those that said yes, they told each one that soft openings from 7DMT will begin on April 1st. They also stuck with the official opening on May 2nd.

Believe it...don't believe it. It's up to you. I just thought that it was something that those going around that time can start looking for.

Time will tell.

Hello, fellow Memphiian! I picked up my Frozen at the Best Buy across the street, and literally everyone in the checkout lines seemed to have a copy.

As for Disney Store CMs, like others I doubt they really know that much, but that information does match up to the rumors and collective wisdom on these boards. May 2 seems to be the day, and I'll be there on May 7th! :cool1:

April 30th a media event is planned and the Dis Team will be there to cover it. May 2nd is supposed to be the grand opening they are supposedly having a ceremony at 10:15am. My guess is soft openings will be early april but I'm not so sure it will be exactly april 1st maybe the week after but it will be around there.

How busy is a media event day typically? We will be in MK that day with the majority of our time planned in a Fantasyland that day. Thanks for any help.

They really are Disney CMs... same IDs, similar perks, managers with the same silver passes (I've worked there, I still have friends in management)

I also have this to say... Memphis is where the Disney Store warehouse is.. there are a TON of big wigs in and out of that area because of it.

I can't say why they'd be asking guests and telling them about 7DMT in the store, but it's interesting none the less.. as far as random Disney Stores go, that one is quite potentially reliable :thumbsup2

Thanks. A quick bit if research revealed that Disney did indeed sell of its interest in the Disney Stores in 2005 to The Children's Place. Then, in 2008, Disney bought back a subset of those stores and runs them once again.

Super off topic, OP, but :wave2: hi from Cordova!

I read on all ears about May 2nd. I'll be in Disney world on the 3rd and the MK on the 4th. I never been at the parks with a ride opening.
I am glad it is supposed to open on the 2nd and not after the 8th. lol.

Can anyone fill me in what it is like to be at the parks with a ride opening?

We have the same dates! I was wondering the same thing. We won't be there until later on 5/2 so don't plan to do MK until 5/3.

Also, does anyone know if this is going to be a "scary" ride? DD is 4 (almost 5) but a big fraidy cat!

I have every single finger and toe crossed that this is true. Will be at MK for my birthday on April 7 and the only present I want is to ride on Seven Dwarfs Mine Train!! Especially since my beloved BTMR is scheduled to be down for maintenance!

My birthday is on April 7th, too! :goodvibes I'll be at Epcot, but one thing I want for our trip is for the Mine Train to be operational. I know it's unlikely we'll be able to ride, but i'd like all the walls to be down, at least. :) I hope you get your birthday ride.

We're doing a split stay and plan to be in the MK area from April 28 to May 2 and then the Epcot area from May 3 to May 8. My last planned MK day was May 2, which I think will be CRAZY as far as the Mine Train is concerned, so we decided to buy hoppers for the sole purpose of riding the Mine Train in the event that we can't ride it on or before May 2 (would like to be able to use FP+ but have the feeling that we may be waiting in a LONG line for this one).

We will be at MK April 26th, 27th and 29th. We are not DVC or AP is there any chance at all that we will be able to ride if they are doing soft openings?

We are at Magic kingdom on the 6th and 9th

This Bartlett, TN DISney fan will be there for a week thru May 3rd. I'll be there with 3 adults and a 5 year old who have never been. Trying to arrange dining ressies, which park on what days, etc is exciting but making me a little crazy! Especially since you can only get your 3 FP+ Ressies in the same park per day. We will have park hoppers but since we'll be staying at SOG we won't be able to make them early. I realllllly want us to be able to do SDMT but wonder if we'll be able to. I guess I'm just looking to vent to people who understand. Any advice is very welcomed! Happy Spring everyone!
