In the past, DVC members have been invited to participate in "soft openings" of attractions prior to it's official open date. We're going to be down at the D next week. Has anyone heard if there will be any soft open offers for DVC (or Annual Pass) members prior to May 28th for the Seven Dwarves Mine Train?

Thanks, Michael! Unfortunately, we're departing on the 26th. I would LOVE to be able to get on that attraction before we leave.

DebbieB, let's keep our fingers crossed. I have been so fortunate with soft openings in the past (Aladdin in Disneyland, Mission Space (huge mistake!), Star Tours, Everest and Kim Possible at WDW). I hope that lucky streak continues - for both of us.

We are here now until the 18th. We keep checking. Heading back to mk tomorrow Nothing last night

We are there the 21-25. If they do a DVC soft opening....where would that be announced etc.?

We leave next Friday and even though we do have FP+ for SDMT (on 5/30), I would love to see a DVC member soft opening before the actual opening date. We have never been apart of something like that and think it would be cool.

I would think we would get an email offering a special FP+. That's what happened during my February trip when they were testing FP+ for lunch at Be Our Guest. I got invited for that again for this trip. Let's hope they do something like that for the Mine train. Otherwise, it might show up on the website, or they may just have cast members out from and invite people in if they are DVC (I think that's how they did Kim Possible).

If they do a soft opening for DVC members it might be for a price...my brother is a CM and he told me a few days ago they have the option to pay $20 to ride it...ridiculous. So, if they did let DVC members on early I would assume it would be for a price.

That's crazy! I wouldn't pay that; although I'm sure some might. I think that sends a bad message.

If Disney was turning over what they charged the CMs to a charity, that would be acceptable. I don't see them charging park guests a fee for a soft opening.

We just saw it running but it looked like cast ids only. It looked liked they may have been approaching small groups to go on and writing special passes but not sure about that. It's also super quiet. We only saw empty loads but people were in the queue.

That sounds like it could be encouraging! Keeping my fingers crossed. My trip would feel incomplete if I departed and didn't get to try it.

We are here now and the CMs at the front entrance are sticking to the May 28th opening date, stating no soft opening that they know of.

We got home Tuesday night and didn't get to ride, but our friends are there through tomorrow and got to ride it this morning. They were there at the right time! :)

We went by the Mine train ride three times today. I threatened to stand there and stare at the CMs until they let us ride, but, they had stronger powers than me. :)

There was a queue next to the entrance and if you wanted to stand in the 98+ degree Sunshine and wait for the possibility for a ride you MIGHT get on.

We spent our time riding other rides and eating at Be Our Guest.

(ps. Try the Grey Stuff, it REALLY IS delicious!)

We were there last week. The CM's didn't know of any soft openings, but were randomly letting people standing at the entrance ride. The CM i spike to said they had a soft opening early at rope drop. We didn't make it and I couldn't talk DH into standing around in 100 degree heat.
