Hi,

I know that the minimium age for the Dolphin Swim is 6 years old. Is there a minimium age for swimming with the rays etc? My childen will be 3 and 2 years old. It is the 3 year old that we are thinking of since he absolutely, adores ocean life and loves rays.

Also, do you have to have the Dolphin Swim. The website doesn't seem to let you book everyone one the non-dolphin swim, but the 2 kids are too young and neither me or my husband have any interest in swimming with dolphins or handling 2 kids whilst the other one does the swimming.

If neccessary, can you just pay for the dolphin swim and not do it?

Also, what temp is the water? Is it cold?

Thanks in advance.

I know at least 1 person has to do the Dolphin swim......not sure if it is more with a large party since I'm just a party of 2.

We went when my dd was 6. She absolutely would not go in the water with the rays and other sea life. Most of this area is very deep and kind of murky. I would not hazard it with children that young. The water with the rays was rather cold, even with the provided wet suits. I think the lazy river is warmer, but again, with the current, I wouldn't go in with children that young. It's also rather deep. On our trip, the only children younger than my dd that I saw, were on the small patch of sand playing with sand toys.

Edited to add: The dolphin and ray areas are 77 degrees F and the lazy river is 86 degrees F according to the website.

I probably wouldn't take kids that young there. It's a personal choice. Have you thought of just doing Seaworld. They have a tank there with rays in it, and you can put your hands in the tank and touch them! Might be a good choice! My kids were 7 & 9 and were freaked out by the rays, cause some are HUGE! at discovery cove!

Hi

We brought our daughters (8 & 10) in July. They LOVED the whole entire place. It is their fondest memory of our trip to Orlando. They loved the rays, the tropical fish and the dolphins. You will have to pay for 1 dolphin swim but it may be worth it to get picures of the dolphin with your kids. They are amazing in taking and selling pictures.

Have fun!
