I guess most people have already heard of this, but it was new to me. A British grad student came up with a creative way to pay off his student loans. He built a webpage and carved it up into 1,000,000 pixels. Then he started selling space on it for $1 per pixel.
You're basically paying him to put up a tiny clickable banner ad on his home page. The size of the ad is based on how much you are willing to pay. He promises that the page will remain up for at least 5 years. He just sold off the last pixels, so he pulled in $1 million in revenue.
Many of the links are to seamy sites, like porn and casinos and "make money now!" sites. But there's also mainstream links too, like the London Times. I think it's such a creative idea. I'm very impressed.
