Millionaire:So how many of you were the NEXT person in the hotseat when time ran out?

DH was last week! I was in the top 10 every time, which I consider a personal best as I was holding DD 8 months on my lap, pressing the button on her light-up globe, and trying to get my answers in at the same time. But, at the end when they showed the list, DH was the next in line for the hotseat. And then time was up . . . . BUMMER!!!

Did this happen to you? So funny!

his happened to me last july.i asked my DS#2 who is 14 what he wanted to do. i fully expected another round of TOT and RnR but he wanted to go to WWTBM again . i was suprised because we were there yesterday but heck a long and pleasent wait inside air conditioning a no brain decision for me.

well since i had done this once before, this time i was ready. i answered all \of the questions almost instantly and correctly. i could see my seat number slowly creeping up the board. well the last game ended and the announcer put the scores up on the board and yes i was on top of the list and i would have made it if there was another game. to be honest i was in a\strange way a bit relieved that i didnt have to do it. my nerves might have overtook my brain if i had gotten to the hot seat.

well my son was so excited that all he could say out loud, was you almost made it. i cant wait to tell mom!!! i felt real good about how excited he was for me. we joked that on the million dollar question i would have used my last lifeline and "call a total stranger" was it and the person who would have picked up was my wife

I was second in line for the hot seat when time was still going! The question the first guy lost on was "what was the Ticonderoga brand pencil named after?" and the choices were a) river b) forest c) something I can't remember d) fort.

Since I live about an hour from FORT ticonderoga, I obviously knew. After I hit it I looked down my row and not ONE person had gotten it correct! (other than my mom of course). Then they said whoever was #1 was going to be in the hot seat... I'd rather die and instantly felt sick to my stomach because I knew I had answered really quickly!

Luckily one guy was ahead of me (a fellow New Yorker) and so he got it. He didn't look too thrilled to be there either!

Yes, this happened to me in September! DSIL had just been in the hotseat and then my number comes up first and the show was over!! GRRRRRR!!!

I lost on the 500,000 point question and time ran out! They show the list, and DH was #1!!!! How funny is that! If it had been him in the hotseat, he would have made it to the 1M point question.

I've made it 3 times, but that is the only time I got close to the cruise.

There's nothing more frustrating than being number one when the question was missed, but then show time ran out!

Someday I'll beat my brother's 32,000 point win! (although he doesn't have a set of 1,000 point pins from each coast like I have).

I would have been next when we went in Aug 2003. Still, we're planning on going on a cruise anyway, so I guess it's okay.

The same thing happened to me in January! The person lost, time ran out, they show the board and i'm number 1!!! I was so i made my DH do it again right after. We just ran around and got back online. And then the same thing happened AGAIN!! Its always the second game I do well on.

On our trip in Nov 04 it happened to me on the 1st show I attended. Well that hooked me and I must have played 10 shows over the week I was there. It was great fun. It was Jersey Week and almost everyone who got in the Hot Seat was from NJ. So there were plenty on Jersey jokes from the hosts. One guy from Ireland was doing great until he was asked what was the capitol of South Dakota. He was out of lifelines except for the Phone a Stranger lifeline. They made the call and the person they put on was also from Ireland who also had no idea. This has become one of my favorite places. You get to sit down in a nice cool area and you never know if you will get lucky.

Slightly off-topic, but in all of the Star Wars Weekend versions of Millionaire I have played in I scored 1st. Yes I am a Star Wars geek and proud of it. However, because of the format only the Star Wars costumed CMs are allowed in the hot seat, very, very frustrating.

I lost on the 64,000 point question and time ran out with my DH on the #1 also! He was #2 when I made the hotseat. He's been in the hotseat once already though, didn't feel too bad.

Very similar thing happened to me!

My DF and I took my parents to WDW 2 years ago, and we're playing WWTBAMPI, and the first game, I was #2 on the list. So, they drag me back in again. This time, I was #1 when time ran out.

They wanted to drag me back in again, but I had had enough of it. OK, the honest truth is that I was shaking like a leaf inside, and was more afraid of making it to the hot seat and looking like a fool.

They REALLY wanted that cruise. So, I was in a no-win situation. If I *did* make it to the hot seat, the odds of me actually getting that far were slim at best.

Although, since I started collecting pins, looking back, it would've been nice to win a couple of the pin sets!

When I was there a few months ago, the seat next to me was empty, so I played 2 seats. Both of my seats were on the board every time. I was 3rd and 5th once then I was 2nd and 3rd the next time. I guess one of my hands is faster than the other.

This happened to both me AND my husband one year...I can't remember if it was 2001 or 2003...maybe 2003. I get my years confused.

Anyway, we played twice that year. One the first day, the person in the hot seat had lost, time ran out, and the list was displayed with who would have been next....my husband was #1. Then the next day we played again...person in the hot seat lost, time ran out, list was displayed and this time I was #1. I'm personally thankful that time ran out for me as I know I would have done horribly and I don't want that kind of embarrassment, but I was so disappointed for my husband.

It has happened to me on numerous occassions. Since they will cut a show short rather than have a carryover hot seat contestant, you only have two chances at the hot seat per show.

My son and I have been very efficient about getting onto the hotseat. In January, we both in made it in four games. In March during his spring break we both made it to the hot seat in two games (actually that day my son was first both times and had to decline the second time due to the 30 day rule which allowed me to get on).

WWTBAM-PI is my favorite attraction and no trip to WDW is complete with a trip to the hot seat.

I made it to number 2! So frustrataing! The teenage boy who got in had never seen the show and was just pushing random buttons. And here I am.... it's my DREAM to get in the hot seat....... and #2. Argh! I still have fun, though, and was proud of my #2!
