Hey there,

I'm really hoping to go see WWTBAM at MGM while my boyfriend and I are there in August... and even more so hoping to get in the hot seat!

Has anyone ever gotten that far? How hard are the questions you get?

And what are the prizes (Besides the Disney Cruise if one were to win it all)?

Thanks! :)

No,, I haven't but i thought youmight find this entertaining. R2D2 is the host for the game this year at Star Wars weekends and the Jawas will be helping him.

DH made it in the hot seat when we were there 2 weeks ago. The questions were pretty easy, actually. He made it to the 8,000 level and then was asked a question about musicals. Well, he's not very knowledgable on musicals, and I knew he didn't know it. But he guessed. Had all 3 lifelines left and guessed. aargh! He said that he was saving them for the last few questions and knew they'd get harder.

So when you hit the 1,000 mark you get that prize no matter what, and at the 10,000 mark too. So he got a hat and a pin set (lanyard and 5 pins). I'm not sure what the 10,000 prize was as he missed that question!

He is still beating himself up over not winning us that cruise!

Ahhh, I'm a musical theatre major! I would have known it lol. ...But who knows, there was probably some question about something about sports and I'd be like, "What now?" ...So that makes it even :)

Awweee well, maybe you guys will win next time!

Thanks :)

For each question you get correct, you win a collectable pin with the show's logo and the point value of the question. At 1,000 points, you also get a baseball cap. At 32,000 points, you add a polo shirt to your winnings. If you successfully answer the million point question, you receive all of these prizes, plus a medallion, a varsity style jacket, and a 3-night Disney cruise for 4 including airfare. The million point question is engraved on the back with the winner number you are (ie. if you are the 130th person to answer the million point correctly, the number 130 will be on the back of the pin).

If you miss along the way, you lose one or more pins. Oh, and you also receive a lanyard to hang the pins on if you get through the first 5 questions.

The difficulty of the questions is similar to that of the show. Sometimes they even throw in a question directly from the show. The first 5 questions are designed to be easy enough for pretty much anyone to get through them, though it does happen that someone misses from time to time.

You can find more information about the show here:

If you still have questions, just let me know and I'll be happy to help. Always willing to help a fan of the show.

My dd got to the hot seat and won a baseball cap and pin set :wizard:

She missed a sports question (I'm the biggest sport nut in the world) and it was killing me that I couldn't help!

I made it into the hot seat last september. Right after they asked the question for me to get into the hot seat I had a feeling I was the fastest correct answer. Only problem is I didn't want to get the hot seat!! I just liked seeing my seat number on the screen. I hate being on camera and speaking in public. I almost declined when they told me to come up to the hot seat. I don't think they've ever seen someone so happy to miss a question.

I've been in the hot seat twice. It is a blast. The questions aren't really all that hard...up til a point.

For some reason, both times I got, what seemed to me, to be an inordinately hard question at the 16,000 mark.

One was, "What is the meaning of the word Fugacious."

The other was, "What was the real name of Curly Joe, of 3 Stooges fame."

I missed both.

When I was there a few weeks ago, an older teen got in the hot seat and then next round his father got in. The host thought that was a first!

LOL, Master Gracie, you are so right!

I got, "How many gallons are in a bushel and a peck?" Uh...guess I missed bushel and peck conversions in school. I used one of my life lines for this one...ask a complete stranger...they gave me an eight-year-old. LOL! Thanks! That's okay, we both missed it. :p

I made it to the hot seat not to long ago, and it was a lot of fun.

As already stated, you get a pin for each level you attain. Then you get caps, shirts, jackets, and things like that.

It's all cool crap,,,,I guess.

I made it all the way to the million dollar question, and of course I lost.

Here's the question:

What did George Featherstone invent?
a) Pet Rock b)lawn flamingo
c)rollerblades d)the yo-yo

correct answer: B, Who knew?

lol gutting i bet

when we went we found the questions quite easy but some of them were stuff only americans would know............. watch out for them they're tricky lol

I got into the hot seat last August and made it up to the 32,000 question, which was about some woman I never heard of and which magazine she's the editor of. LOL! Needless to say, I didn't get it. But it was a blast being in the hot seat. Like another poster said, I just like to see if my seat number makes it up on the screen. This time, I was looking at the screen and saw my DS17's seat number, then my DD15's, then my DH and I was like, "Wow, they're all doing great!" and then I saw MINE was in the #1 spot and I was then in the hot seat! So, I ended up with the hat, lanyard and pins and on the way out, I met a little girl who was obviously collecting pins. I gave her one of the pins and she was just ecstatic since you can't get these pins in any of the pin places, so I felt like I got to give some pixie dust magic to a little girl. I'd love to do it again! :goodvibes

I bet a lot of people got Curly & Curly-Joe mixed up, I looked up the answer on IMDB.Com & I still didn't get it right the first time!

Curly-Joe's real name was Joseph Wardell, aka "Curly Joe deRita".
"Fugacious"? I haven't looked that up yet.

My WWTBAM/PI! experiences...
I've been in the Hot Seat once, my DH once. I made it to the 250,000 point level. The question I missed was
Hodophobia is commonly known in the English language as fear of what?
traveling, crossing the street, thunder & lightning, birds
My DH missed on what is the meaning of "bees knees".
When my DH made it into the Hot Seat, he was #1(of course), I was #2 and our DD was #3. He said afterwards that he wished he would have declined, so then I would have been in the Hot Seat. (I usually get in the Top Ten every time I play.) I think I might have declined if he had done that...so our DD could have played.
**-Something to keep in mind! *IF* they ask you a question & you don't know the answer & have maybe used up all your lifelines, you can now opt to walk away with the prizes that you already earned even if you are not at the guaranteed levels (1,000 points, 10,000 points, etc)

agnes!

It's alot of fun! I am a big trivia buff.

I NEVER made it into the hotseat :furious: !
I was #2 four times on the board last year! AGGGGGGGGGGGGGGHHHHHHH!

I am determined to win the cruise! :wizard:

I also qualified for the real WWTBAM 48 times, over the years, was at the NY studios, had my pic taken & was interviewed many many many times...and NUTIN...never heard from them ever again. Now I have a complex! :teeth:

There are two hot seats in a session. To get into the first hot seat is probably over 99% luck. After the question is asked many of the people in the audience just push the buttons at random. There are a few hundred people in the crowd and someone will by luck hit the correct 4 buttons in order. You might have a very young child get the correct answers and they ask a parent to come and help them. The times might be just over a second for the winner.

The second hot seat is the one that takes knowledge and skill. The audience plays along with the first contestant in the hot seat. The person that answers the most questions correctly in the shortest time gets to go to the hot seat.

I have finished as high as 3, but never made it to the hot seat in probably a dozen or so shows.

Just to clarify, below is the list of prizes you will receive if you leave after successfully answering the question at each level:

100 points - 1 pin, lanyard
200 points - 2 pins, lanyard
300 points - 3 pins, lanyard
500 points - 4 pins, lanyard
1,000 points - 5 pins, baseball cap, lanyard

2,000 points - 6 pins, baseball cap, lanyard
4,000 points - 7 pins, baseball cap, lanyard
8,000 points - 8 pins, baseball cap, lanyard
16,000 points - 9 pins, baseball cap, lanyard
32,000 points - 10 pins, baseball cap, lanyard, polo shirt

64,000 points - 11 pins, baseball cap, lanyard, polo shirt
125,000 points - 12 pins, baseball cap, lanyard, polo shirt
250,000 points - 13 pins, baseball cap, lanyard, polo shirt
500,000 points - 14 pins, baseball cap, lanyard, polo shirt
1,000,000 points - 15 pins, baseball cap, lanyard, polo shirt, medallion, jacket, 3-night Disney cruise for 4

If you miss a question in the first 5, you leave with only a button that says "I was in the Hot Seat". If you miss a question in the next group of 5 questions, you receive the prizes for reaching 1,000 points. If you miss one of the last 5 questions, you receive the prizes for reaching 32,000 points.

Also, there are strict time limits on each question. You get 15 seconds to answer each of the first 5, 30 seconds to answer each of the next 5, and 45 seconds to answer each of the next 4. You get either 50, 55, or 60 seconds on the million point question. I can't remember for certain. Using one or more lifelines on a question will extend the time limit. Use that to your advantage. For instance, if you phone a stranger, you may get someone who obviously doesn't know, but take the time to rethink the question and maybe you'll realize what the answer should be.

DISUNC, are you still trying to get on the show? Have you considered going to Walt Disney World in January when they do Walk In and Win week? They have done that the last two or three years. Not sure if they will be doing it this coming January or not.

I made it up on Christmas Day this past year. I actually made it up there on the fastest finger, which I read the question and thought about before answering. I was SHOCKED. I got up to the 64,000 question with the phone a complete stranger lifeline. (I had to use my first one on a stupid question, but the answer eluded me "What did the little dog do after the cow jumped over the moon in the classic nursery rhyme?" For the life of me I couldn't decide between laugh and smile.) My $64,000 question was what is the state bird of Iowa? I had NO idea, having never studied or been to Iowa. I used my lifeline hoping someone would know. My stranger gave a last second answer, and I went with something else. My stranger happened to be right!!!! Then we came back the next game and my stranger's 8 year old son was the next one in the hot seat. He annouced to the crowd that he had been correct on my question! When he got up to 16,000 HE had to use his phone a stranger lifeline and he didn't pick the strangers answer and the stranger was right as well!!! It's hard to have faith in a complete stranger!!

I'm waiting to play again until Star Wars Weekends!! We've wanted to play the last couple weekends, but if you get in the hot seat you can't reenter for another month...I'm not missing out on the chance to take a stab at Star Wars Trivia!!!

It is VERY nerve wracking to be in the hot seat, you forget even simple information...at least I do, I'm pretty shy in situations like that...my fiancee was so proud, every time someone talks about it, he brags for me...making me even more embarrassed!!

This was not the case for us. My husband answered 8 questions correctly - missed on the 16,000 point question. He only got the lanyard and 5 pins, not 8 pins!

Made it to the hot seat on April 25. I made it to 32,000 and bombed out at 64,000 on which astrological sign was a fire sign? pisces, capricorn, aquarius, and saggitarius. I know nothing about astrology. Anyways, I got the pins, lanyard, cap and polo shirt. Makes for a nice storytelling experience.
